Zurich or Universal is all the same. Zurich bought Universal. I sell them at my Volvo/Mazda dealership and they are awsome to work with in regards to service advisors and the dealership working with them. The audi dealer wants 1k profit thats why there more. I too want one of these v8 monsters but am scared at the cost of repairs.

B6/By S4 Curb weight: 3825 lbs according to Edmunds.com
4.2L V8 340HP...
AWD...
Manual: 13 mpg City / 20 mpg Highway / 16 mpg Combined... according to Edmunds.com
No I don't own one but I have been a part of Audizine.com for quite some time and know of many people with B6/B7 S4's and they have done tests where they would go an entire tank without shifting higher than 4,000 RPM's in any gear and none of them saw better than 16mpg city. But I am assuming you're one of those people who thinks that because you own it, you know it. I know plenty of people that own cars that I don't and plenty of people that know ten times MORE about another persons car than they do themselves.
So yes I think you are full of crap when you say you get 18mpg city.

I currently own a 2005 B6 S4 with 55,000 miles on the clock.
I've owned it since brand new and to this day the only problem I ever had were 2 blown coilpacks at 52k, and a faulty child-lock on the driver's window switch panel.
I agree with most people here though. If you can, get a CPO warranty and definitely avoid the late 2003, early 2004 build date cars. There have also been many cases of valvetrain failure and various other head problems on those early build cars.
Also, to add to the mpg debate. With an APR chip, full downpipes and exhaust, I am able to see 22 to 23 mpg on the highway consistently. In stop and go traffic or during "spirited" driving...forget it! I'll see 15 or 16 TOPS. During a 1200 mile trip from NJ to Miami I averaged 24 mpg even, and that was with constant speeds of 80-90mph in 6th gear cruising. A friend with a 2006 S4 that has a REVO chip made the exact same trip with me and he never saw more then 17 to 18 mpg. He would need to stop for gas a good 70-80 miles before I would.

18 MPG? when you say city you don't mean downtown seattle? NO! You mean I95 if 18mpg is your figure, auto or not, neutral being pushed maybe.

Here is what a guy on Audizine said about his S4 and the reliability.
I must say my car has been in the shop MANY times, from HUGE repairs that cost $13,000 (replaced cam tensioner, cylinder head, in the shop for 2 weeks), to stupid bugs that keep happening (rear tag light bulb has been replaced 8 times in 1 year), to the fact that RIGHT NOW it's in the shop for a wobbly shift **** when I accelerate, no A/C (needs a brand new compressor that is going to cost $3,500 to replace, flush and recharge) tag light bulb (how rare), windshield wiper motor (windshield wipers move to the middle and don't go back to their position), and a ticking noise that comes from the engine that I have no idea what it is and neither does the dealer. The funniest thing is, I dont even drive my car that hard and I have all these problems. I must say I probably wont buy another Audi.

Furthermore, the EPA ratings are 15-21. I could go into a long drawn out explanation of the EPA testing cycle, and how some people can experience better numbers due to varied driving conditions. (Jesus, I may even have gone to school and studied it...) But I don't feel the need to. I know I get 18 in the city and 22-23 hwy. I pay my gas bill, and have to do the math on mileage for work... Furthermore, I know PocketHercules and can't think of a reason he'd lie about fuel economy. Or anything for that matter.

And for some reason the car still keeps doing it... Perhaps the crap you feel I am full of adds to the fuel mileage?
And then some quote about someone with a bad example... I think that if I scour the internet for someone's bad experience with ANY make and model of car I would find it. It's no more an example of the brands reliability than my old Honda that managed to snap a connecting rod. I replaced the rods, not the car...
