_Overall Impressions of the A5/S5_
Some of you have had them for a year or so...how are they holding up?
I've been a loyal BMW man for the last 3-4 cars....usually coupes but recently went to the 7series...big size difference!
I'm ready to go back to a coupe and the audi has caught my attention since its release... any pros cons you guys can think of...any bmw owners switch over and can offer a comparison?
prob looking to get a slightly used one...havent fully decided whether to get the A or go all out and get the S ....
Before this my next car was gonna be a 6series bmw...the audi has my mind wandering though-

I've had my S5 for just over a year, did a six month stint in a MKV GTi and before that a B6 A4 1.8T for four years before that. I've driven a couple of friend's 335i and 320i coupes so have a decent idea of how a BMW feels. I was also lucky enough to ride in a current model M3 doing hot laps with a professional racing driver, it was amazing!
Both coupes are beautifully designed on the outside, IMO the Audi is in front though (biased)
IMO the recent generation of BMW's have a very bare, minimalist interior. No to say BMW's have a bad interior, but I do think the Audi wins again.
In terms of driving feel, IMO the BMW has a more direct feel for the road and a 'chunky' secure steering feel. The Audi feels refined and IMO a little detached from the road while still feeling supremely confident.
In terms of power, you can get as much as you want in variants of either model so it's not really important to compare IMO.
I test drove an A5 3.2 quattro then the S5 immediately after. There was no comparison in terms of performance and handling. I didn't drive an S-line A5 though, I believe the handling on these is comparable to the S5.
At the end of the day, choose the car that feels right behind the wheel for you. I don't think you'll regret coming over to Audi though!

+1 for S5...Bought mine Jan 08, best car ever!! I had an E36 325IS and a E46 330 cpe....great cars for their day but nothing is close to the S5. The 6er is a great car too but now what...4 or 5 years old? No change
