R8 clubsport on the way
and here it is:
The R8 GT swaps in a thinner glass windshield and polycarbonate rear windows and replaces many aluminum body panels with carbon fiber. By going over every part of the R8, Audi's engineers have carved a total of 220 pounds off the standard R8's curb weight.
The 5.2-liter V10 has been bumped from 525 horsepower to 560, equalizing the power of its stepsister, the Gallardo. The GT is only available with the R-Tronic hydraulically actuated semi-automatic, and when pushed to its limit, the R8 GT is claimed to accelerate to 62 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds and on to 124 mph in 10.6 seconds. The terminal velocity has been increased to 198.8 mph.
Only 333 examples of the R8 GT will be built and the price in Germany is €193,000. No mention is made of U.S. availability, but a few should reach U.S. shores.

^ lol! Out of all the cars, I didn't expect the SpecV to be the one out of reach. I never knew the Scuderia time, though.
I would just simply call them all performance peers. On most tracks, with most owners, it would be a driver's race.

The production car came out nicely
, not RWD but pretty good in regards to weight reduction/loss and such.
Wonder how it handles relative to a LP570-4 Superleggera.
BTW: Inquired at a local SF Bay Area Audi dealer owned by the Penske group about a week ago if they were taking deposits, was told that if I was interested in the car that I should forward a vehicle owneship profile to the folks at Audi NA to be taken into consideration.

THAT'S the car I think I'm waiting for - R8 V12 TDI.
Give me that AWD handling with all of that torque... Where is THIS beast hiding? Why are they waiting? Next model perhaps?

i doubt u are ever going to see the R8 V12 TDI at a dealer. It was mainly a project to promote the TDI in the US, but they had problems with the huge and heavy V12 Diesel engine that didn`t want to really fit in there. If u want a real torque excess u should be fine with the all electric R8 e-tron that will come as a limited edition in a year or so.

Haha, hopefully the industry will offer proper lithium batteries till then.
u `ll never know, but i trust those wicked engineers at Audi to please us with a stunning final result.
