Great car, congrats on your purchase. I have always loved the A8, it is a very understated design that will always look good.

We just sold one here at the BMW dealership I work for. Sound system and quality is UNREAL. It was black exterior with the dark brown and black seats with dark wood trim. It drives great but is slower than I thought it would be. My only issue is that its not that fast and the sterring is too light IMO. It is not faster than a stock 2010 750i/Li which it should be. Those are 2 minor gripes and I will admit it is one of the best all around cars money can buy. The sound of the engine is great and its such a comfortable cruiser. It is hard to beat. Good luck with it.

Are you talking about the S8 at Flemington BMW?? As far as the new 7, it is a twin turbo correct? I've heard it's ridiculously fast, and the steering is a little light at low speeds but does get heavier at high speeds.

I'd hope a 2010 Model would be faster than a 2007 model. Better to compare the past 7 with the A-S, no? Don't worry I'm pretty positive the new S8 will be equal/faster than the new 7, especially being lighter and what not.

If we do that we have to compare it to the Alpina 7 which KILLS the performance of the S8. Alpina was low 4's to sixty and over a second faster in the 1/4 mile. It also handeled better so I dont mind comparing the S8 to the older 7 competition being the Alpina 7. My point is something with a 10 cyl and S badge should be faster than the S8 IMO.

Yes I am in sales at Flemington. The new 7 4.4 V8 TT. 400hp. The sterring in a little light at slow speeds but is heavier at higher speeds. This is my biggest problems with Audi/Lexus/Benz they are too light ALL THE TIME.

I have no knowledge about Alpina, so instead of speaking out of place I'll ask a few questions.

1. Is Alpina and BMW affiliated or is it an independent tuning company? If yes, how are they affiliated?
2. What are the price differences?
3. I just did a quick search on google, and saw the 0-60 times being no where near what you claim, but instead in the 5.0-5.4 range, which is on par or worse than the S8. Where are you getting your numbers?
4. What are done to the cars to produce the extra power? I'm assuming Forced Induction.

Depending on what your answers are I think we can both agree whether it's fair to compare the two.

I think a better comparison for the Alpina B7 would be a MTM S8, the S8's true competition would be the MB S55/63....

Awesome choice, I miss my B7 to this day if it wasn't for so many electrical issues. Enjoy!

Thats what I was getting at, I definitely agree, even though the S63 is hardly faster through the quarter and $30,000 more base price . I also prefer the interior of the Audi compared to the competitors.
