Audi R8 V10 vs Gallardo at the drag strip...
Typical internet comments after any race; "oh the drivers need to learn how to launch their cars properly, they need to know how to drive properly bla bla bla"
Did any one of your internet badasses ever consider maybe the owner does not wish to aggressively launch their 100K+ car?!

Then why go to a dragstrip where 60 ft., RT's, trap speed etc. are all criteria for posting good numbers? Why no just go out on an open freeway with a video camera and film some highspeed runs?
-just sayin
This statement doesn't make sense. AWD cars should kill in the 1/4 mile, it's a matter of knowing what rpm to launch. Trap speed is a good indicator of hp. The R8 driver eventually ran a decent 60 ft (1.89) in the second video and therefore delivered a much better time 11.88 @ 120.6 mph, which is what that car should be running.

If somebody wanted a fast car in a straight line, they probably would've purchased a Supra, Cobra, etc...
It's only my opinion of course, but I'd rather see these two go head-to-head on a road course for 30 minutes, instead of 12 secs.
That's like somebody purchasing an F430 and seeing how well it drifts...
I mean, these cars weren't meant for a short run down the strip... A Lamborghini is just getting warmed up around 60-120mph. The R8 (for the brief moment that I drove one) felt almost like absolute bliss every time I turned the wheel. I'd venture to say the turn back to the timing tower to pick up the slip was more fun than the run down the 1320.

+1
There is a reason why these cars are built in Europe, with the autobahn and stretches where there is no speed limit. A small 1/4 mile stretch does not allow cars like these to "stretch" their respective legs!
But again I contest that what is the point of taking your car to the strip, paying money to wait in line, and wait to have your car inspected by tech if you're not going to drop the hammer and race against the clock? Isn't that the entire point of a 1/4 mile strip?
