R8 V10 R-Tronic Questions

Does anyone have an R8 V10 R-Tronic?
If so, how is the shifting? How is the combination of the tranny with the engine?
I have had SMG, DCT, PDK etc.
I know that this is an older technology with the single clutch automated manual, I read mixed reviews on that tranny and wanted a members perspective.
Thanks
D

R8V10 is infamous around these parts
I have close to 6K miles of experience with the R-Tronic in my V10. You have four operational options. Automatic in both standard and sport setting, and manual in standard and sport. Auto/standard is a bit unusual in that if you drive with a light foot it tends to fall on itself before it shifts. Auto/sport adjusts the shift points at a bit higher rpm and with a lighter to moderate foot it feels really quite good. Foot to the floor it shifts hard but really no different then agressively shifting a manual gearbox, it all just happens very quickly. Depending on my mood I switch primarily between auto/sport and manual/sport mode. As I am a bit older and use the car as my daily driver I prefer the R-Tronic to the manual gearbox. Overall it adds alot to the cars drivability yet I have not experienced anything negative even when driving it 10/10ths.

mine is an egear. its the same as r tronic except with different programming.

i would avoid auto mode since it slips the clutch more. it'll wear out your clutch and bearing faster.

I put 6k miles on my R-tronic V10. It is a great car but is a single plate clutch and if you have driven any other dual clutch cars the shifts do feel slower.

Would highly recommend the car.

i have had my r tronic v10 for about 3 months. it takes a couple of weeks to learn the transmission, once you do it is allot of fun. in auto mode i just pull of the throttle a bit when it is going to shift and it is very smooth. manual mode is a blast.
