Question I need to test drive the Audi R8?

I was doing some thinking, after seeing some spy pics of the new 991, I just may get a R8, does anyone know where in Ny, I could test drive one or in New Jersey, I know this is considered there high end car and just dont let people drive like that but Im a very serious buyer, but would like to see if this is the car for me.... thanks in advance Ron

If your serious a dealership should have no problem with you test driving one. If they have one in stock.

i would call the dealer, make an appointment. if they have one in stock, they can get it ready for you to drive it. are you considering the v8 or v10? they are more v8's out there as CPO. they would hv no problem letting u drive a cpo.

Just curious, what about seeing pictures of the 991 made you want an R8? I have a GT3 up for sale so that I can buy an R8 V10.

If you really want an extended 'test drive', sign up for the Audi Sportscar Experience. You can drive an R8 on the track at Sears Point for one or two days. Much better than any dealer test drive!!

well the interior is looking very dry, and the no emergency brake pull up handle, instead they now have a push button brake like in my Pana= no bueno.....Also even though they try to camouflage alot of the vehicle i still havent notice much change ( somewhat expected ), but dont count me out yet, I will def make my decision next month well they final reveal the real thing, but I have the R8 as a back up choice for a vehicle. I have been a loyal Porsche enthusiast for a long time, and would not like to start buying audi's but if the price is right and the performance matches i just may go for it....I guess it depends if the sun comes out that day or its cloudy... Thinking about going to Miami for a weekend and rent a R8 from my guys Luxury rental place.... I will go with a V8 or a V10, I really dont have a crazy preference even though that V10 is mean.....I just dont wanna go into ferrari or lambo territory and be driving a audi ( not in a bad way, but you guys understand)....

The result is because of the PDK, which is the fastest tranny on the market.
The R8 tested above has got the R-Tronic which is a sequential automatic tranny and pretty even with a 997.1 tiptronic BUT slow compared to the new PDK-dual clutch (0.3 sec. slower to 60). The e-tronic is not really worth the extra cash imho.
Get a 6-speed R8, it´s less expensive, sounds and looks amazing.

P.S. Audi will upgrade the R8 with a dual clutch system soon (i guess shortly after the release of the new 991).

The 997.2 Carrera S and the 4.2 R8 are fairly equivalent. The 5.2 R8 on the other hand is in a whole different league! Although in real life, the extra power cannot really be used.
