Looking for an A4 Avant. Any contacts?

Hi All,
I'm looking for a used A4 Avant as my daily driver. Does anyone have any contacts in the So Cal region?

I tried calling Circle Audi and McKenna Audi but the used sales reps were not very helpful.

My budget is $15-18k.

Thanks,
Mel

Are you looking for a 1.8T or 2.8? Quattro or non-quattro? To give you an idea I bought mine at the end of 2003 with ~40k miles for $20k and it's a 2001. You could probably pick up the same car now for $16-18k. I kind of got ripped off but it came loaded. Fewer miles the better on these things, and if it does have more miles look for ones that have had service done such as chain tensioner, ignition coils, possibly new hoses, spark plugs, this will help you down the road. (these parts apply to the 1.8T, I don't know much about the 2.8's). If you get a 1.8T try to get one from post-1999.5 model year as they have some slight updates and I believe this is when the upped the power from 150-170hp. Good luck, they are great cars, and the Avant is pure Euro, if I wasn't in school I would have got one instead of the sedan.

2.8

I'm looking for the 2.8. What does Quattro mean? Can I get it in 2 wheel drive instead of AWD?

What do you think of the new A3 Avant?

Quattro is just the term for Audi's AWD. Yes you can get it 2 wheel drive but it would be front-wheel drive. Like I said I don't know much about the 2.8's except they are more reliable than the 1.8T's however they are not very mod-friendly except for maybe a supercharger.

I haven't seen the A3 avant, is that just the A3 with 4 doors versus the A3 with 2 doors?

Since the Sedan 1.8T's are usually the most sought after, the 2.8 Avant may be much cheaper. Look around on ebay or autotrader.

We just got an A3 demo at our dealership here in Canada, the car is unreal. Very sporty, and with the new 2.0t engine, its a hoot to rip it down the freeway.

I've got a lot of experience driving the Audi a4 Avant. I have a supercharged one. It is the best car that I own. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

2001 A4 Avant vs 2006 A3

What do you think?

Should I get a 2001 A4 Avant (V6 2.8L) or the new A3 (4 cyl 2.0L)?

The 2001 is going for 19,000 and the A3 is going for 25,000.

I can give a **** about gas mileage. I want torque and handling...without having to drop a supercharger in it.

You can get a 2001 A4 Avant for a lot less than $19k. I'd recommend you shop around. With regard to torque and handling...neither of these cars are exciting out of the box. Any Turbo car will have more options to make it more fun, ie. chips, etc. PES-Tuning did my supercharger on my 2.8L and it has proven to be reliable and a lot of fun for over 100k miles.
