Cayman R vs Audi TT RS
APR should have theirs available soon as well. I've used the APR tune on a TT and TTS and it was great. I really like the ability to change between stock, 91 octane, valet, etc so easily. If I had kept my TT-RS I would have had the APR remap done.
I've never owned a TTRS, but a year ago I traded my TTS for a Cayman. There are a lot of things I like about both cars and if I could, I'd own both. My TTS was the prestige level with full leather interior but it was only available in the USA with the DSG auto-manual transmission. I've always driven a stick and tried for a year to get used to DSG but I couldn't shake the feeling that the computers were doing all the driving. The interior design and comfort of the Cayman can't compare with the TTS, and as a DD, the Audi was much more practical than the Porsche.
Bottom line was that I was bored driving the TTS and missed the fun I had driving my old Acura Integra that I drove for 12 years before getting the Audi. Turbo rush was always fun, but the TTS was a dog in traffic, and then there was that huge turbo lag which almost got me killed a few times trying to merge into traffic. When the TTRS was introduced in the USA, I looked into that for the manual transmission, but mid $60's for the TTRS was getting into Porsche territory, so just out of curiosity, I drove a Cayman and went home with one.
Like everyone says, they are different cars and each has it's advantages, but for me the Cayman was a much better fit, for many reasons already stated in this thread. I'm not a track guy and as a DD it's not about the numbers as much as everyday driving enjoyment. However, I do regret not being able to afford the slightly better performance of the Cayman S.

A few thoughts on my TT RS now that I have some seat time (1800 kms):
It is a very fun car. Many have said the car is numb and boring. It's not. The more you drive it, the more you see it's deapths. The car is very entertaining. The short wheel base gives it that busy feel you only get in smaller cars. I like it.
The steering feel at low speeds is too light. It does get better at speed. It gets weighty and feels connected to the road.
The shifter is crap. Very vague. Easy to miss a gate. This is a real miss, the clutch on the other hand is easy to live with.
The braking on the track is no where near as linear as the Aston. It took me a while to trust them. Once I understood how they "worked" things got better, then they died. After three track days and 1800 kms in total, they are toast. A set of Pagid blues and high temp fluid will remedy this. Apparently braided lines are not stocked for this car. I wanted to see if they would improve the brake feel.
The stock Toyo's are gone too. I was not crazy about them, especially how quickly they wore. I have replaced them with some Yokohamas AD08's. The car felt soo much better already. Turn in was immediately better. Basically everything was better. I'm convinced the car would get far better reviews if it had come with better tires from the factory.
I added a carbon fiber rear wing in place of the standard wing. It looks better, the carbon mirrors don't look like orphans anymore. Still waiting for Osir to get their sh*t together and deliver the front splitter.
The car is properly quick. I do love the way it drives. It is fun on the track. Lots of other drivers were interested in the car and more than a few said it looked "very fast out there". I still need to find a few seconds though im hoping the brakes, comp Haldex and tires get me closer.
I found it easy to get the rear end to swing around. That is a first for Audi and me. The car was less gracefully than the Aston, but faster. It squeals more and can be swung from corner to corner if you choose to.
The soundtrack is amazing when you are really pushing it. Though it should be louder around town. The engine note is cool to listen too, unlike my other cars.
The ride quality is actually very good. Better than the Aston, worse than the S4 it replaces.
As far as it versus the Cayman. I had an 09 Boxster S and loved it. The sport exhaust had more presence and soul than the RS sport exhaust. The Boxster was more direct and fun a low speeds, but some of that is the lack of roof.
The RS has a far better cabin. It is more practical and it has more power. As a car to do dual duty it is peerless. It's also a bargain relatively speaking, though you will HAVE to change some stuff to get it to feel more alive. That should not be the case. Audi should have done that for us.
