Was just reading up on the new S3 coming to North America. Anyone have thoughts or experience with it? I drive a lot for work so i was originally looking for a diesel car (BMW 335d) however the new S3 has 300hp - 0-6 in 4.9 sec and gets an estimated 35 mpg.

 

looks great, although it doesn't seem like there will be manual transmission offered here in the US.

 

yeah I cant wait for the S3 to be available in the US. it will be my next car.

I'm looking at the S3 too. It compares well to the CLA45 AMG. Less HP but less also less expensive. Two totally different designs, the CLA's design is more aggressive while the Audi is pretty staid. Depends what you like.

The S3 should have a better multi media interface and a decent interior. Although I greatly prefer the Recaro seats in the CLA45.

The old skool Audi crowd rips on it because it isn't true Quattro, instead it employs Haldex (version 5, iirc). It also gets ripped on because they claim it is a warmed over VW Golf. Same platform, engine and running gear, so maybe that is justified.

I wish it was out now, and not November so I could see one and drive it. Or maybe I'll just go nuts and order a GT3.

 

I work at Audi we actually have 2 salesmen going to a launch in Feb. for the A3/S3 once they get back I can get a little more information from them and let you guys know.

 

Saw at the la auto show they look great in person much smaller than the a4, more of a jetta

 

S3 should be coming out around end of Summer
