AWE Tuning B8.5 S5 tops 93 pump fuel 1/4 mile record: 11.883 @ 116.49, full weight

We went to the track for a few full-weight runs. Then a pump-fuel record happened.

The Run
200lb driver, 74 D/A at Cecil County Dragway, April 23rd 2014, 93 octane, just under half tank of fuel. Car was at street trim, including spare, all seats – running 20” wheels, normal pressure in tires. The run was done with traction control off, using launch control.

Notes

We ran the car hard – laying down about 20 runs with no degradation between runs. Minimal breaks were had.

The S5 ran flawlessly, with the supercharger remaining “touchable” even with the shield off. We did not put any ice into the ColdFront™ Reservoir (though we could have – incredibly easy to access).

The ColdFront™ System allowed us to just keep on going – a benefit for when you’re headed up after work and want to log some runs. When we did have to wait in line, the ColdFront™ Coolant Pump allowed us to easily cycle coolant with the accessories on without wasting fuel. The Falken Azenis FK 453s grabbed incredibly well – keeping in mind these are our daily driven tires atop the Forgeline Wheels. Lastly, the G.I.A.C. DSG DL501 S-Tronic Transmission Software pulled its weight well with solid shifting.

Looking forward to hitting it again soon!

A little something to satisfy several inquiring curiosities...

Later that night, before the track gates closed at 10, we added about 5 gallons of race fuel on top of what was left in the tank to see what we could do. Why not, right?

Keep in mind, full weight, full spare, etc – same set up as above (still didn’t touch anything). We ran an 11.706 at 118.45 mph. Not bad for full weight and 20s...
