anyone have any experiences we urS cars?
i know much of you guys/gals have nice new S cars; but im not quiet to that level of income yet, but ive been thinking about picking up a urS4 or possibly urS6 if i could come across the right one for the right price.
obviously the inline 5 cylinder is one of the strongest made by audi, just wondering if anyone here has/used to have one? loved it? hated it? how was matinance? high miles ok?

20-30k would still mean making payments for me (im 19; goin to school working at a skateshop, not much great pay...although i wish i could get into some mutal funds and stuff to have some money later on)
other thing about a b5 s4 is im not sure ifi could handle insurance on such a car at such a young age either...but believe me. thats my dream audi; nog. blue s4

whats the milage on your b5 s4 and your urs4?
ive been tossing up the idea of just making payments on a b5 s4; (and im sure insurance will rape me since im 19.) rather than buying a urs4 all out with cash...hmmm.

yea i was thinking about that aswell; i found a b5 a4 1.8T with like 333chp (probably like 260 to the wheels or whatever..) its suppostue be real quick; but he wants like 18k for it...i could probably get a b5 s4, chip it, and have a faster car for the same price. haha so im not sure yet...anyone have any suggestions?

I had a UrS4 and loved it put around 70K miles on car, sold it when she had 140k.
Also had a UrS6, great cars, not cheap parts but great cars and very fast when tuned right. Repairs not "cheap" on any Audi.

so would you guys suggest steering clear of the urs4 as as daily driver, unless i picked up some side money and mechanic skills? haha
what about a b5 s4? obviously a lot lot more, both insurance and initial car cost; but i hear they arnt too reliable either?
...why cant audis be more reliable?! hah

maitenance is going to cost a lot on any audi for the big ticket things, im not talking oil changes. you have timing belts that need replacing and if your smart you will do all the pulleys and tensioners and water pump at that time, will usually run about $1300 for a 1.8T or around $1500 for a V6/V8. I do a lot of front C/V boots on the older cars, for any car it will run about $350 at most dealers. of course you have brakes and clutches like any car. The 2.7T has a secondary water pump that likes to leak, that usually runs about $6-700 to fix.
The displays go out, the radio, instrument cluster, a/c head unit and all that stuff will burn out and they are all very expensive.
and as with any high milage car you get into issues of suspension bushings worn out and shocks and so on.
honestly man...and B5 1.8TQ is your best bet. for what you spend in getting a B5 s4 you can build up a B5 A4 to be faster. The 97-99 1.8T's have free timing belt inspections per the "Audi JK Recall" and the 99-01 1.8T's have a warranty till 110K miles because of oil sludging problems (if you dont gor crazy modding the engine).

I dont see how you would be better of with a run of the mill A4 with repair issues.
Audi's are not un-reliable cars by no means, yes the earlier ones were in the early to late 80's.
To me a UrS4 or S6 is the perfect sleeper and can be tuned to suprise alot of people.
The A4/S4 in my mind is too small and to retired looking.
I dont like tiny sedans. I loved mu UrS cars and they were dependable for me to the greatest extent. A timing belt on a 2.2 liter is peanuts to do compared to a V6/V8. I did my own timing belt on all my cars (have my own shop) and the A8 timing belt kit was $900 MY COST granted there was alot included but the labor was a pain in the ***.
The A4 is a great start car, but plan on putting in alot of money if you want performance whether engine or suspension wise.
Cracked CV boots are common on ALL FWD cars. There is a trick to lengthening their life span though.

I have driven an MTM tuned UrS6 many times. With just software this car is a beast. Very long legs. Has some lag but its a rush once boost builds. I would recommend driving one.. you'll either love or hate it immediately.

yea i guess i should actually find someone who has one around here and test drive it...i only know of one in my area (urs4) and its got chip, exhaust, and some rs2 goodies so it might not give me the best idea...ill probably fall in love with a rs2'ed one ;P
