Just picked up a 2012 R8 V10 with MT. What a beast. Joins a fleet that includes a 911 turbo, 911 Carrera, Aston Martin Vanquish and DB9, but will hold its own in this crowd.
Taken during the peak of the eclipse in Denver. Still a lot of light for 92% of totality
It is more visceral than the turbo. The 997.1TT is all about quiet power from 2500 rpm. The car is totally stock so the loudest sound one hears is the air being sucked into the engine.
The R8 is a torque monster from idle to red line and makes sweet sounds at the butt end. Living in the Rockies, I find the turbo more compelling on the twisties because it is a bit smaller. Both are very different than the Astons.

Nice car, nice fleet.
It cracks me up that you were taking beauty shots of your R8 at the exact time that everyone else in Colorado is looking at the Sun through funny glasses...
Also, as a Porsche Turbo guy who is also considering an R8, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the R8 driving and ownership experience in comparison after you have a few miles under you.
