Something to drool over... Red RS4 Avant
I don’t think they've changed the formula much over the years for the red. Misano looks pretty close to the Laser rot of the past. The color is very impressive in person. Don’t even think about it if you like the subtle, stealth or no ticket attracting look. If you’re a red connoisseur, its probably the brightest and best you can get. It needs a lot of black, like in the window tint, and trim panels to make it really look nice.
Yeah probably the fastest too. And quattro is one of the great engineering accomplishments in the car world. A purely mechanical system that incorporates a hollow shaft running through the lay shaft. Three diffs, with the gear based Torsen center. They’re wouldn’t be rallying as we know it today without those early cars.
It was funny in the snowstorm we had up here in Washington that basically shut the city done on Monday night. Monday night football was on and I was going to my buddy’s house. I ended up getting off the freeway because it was shut down with traffic. On the back roads it was pure carnage. Cars plowed into telephone poles and many just abandoned. There were even some people waving me not to go down a hill. I gave them the finger and put it into first and crawled down a sheet of pure ice. There were two cars at the corner of this hill in the worst spot with just enough room for me to get through. After I got to the bottom I quickly ate up a few gears punching it throwing up snow just for the show of it. I then approached a hill that is a consistent 30-40degress for a far distance. If you live in Washington you might know it. Its 228th that leads to Bothell. Its called Nike hill because of the missile site at the top.
The people attempting to go up it looked absolutely foolish and they were just blocking the road at the bottom right where I wanted to get some momentum. I had to start from a dead stop two times as I let people slide down back past me. There were cars that were smoking the tires trying to get up it. It is the tallest hill in the entire area, and other then the freeway it was the only way to get to where I needed to go. There were people at the top watching the carnage below just for entertainment. I was the only car out of all the people at the bottom to make it to the top. When I got to the top I of course throttled it a bit to let off some aggravation. My celebration soon stopped because I saw that the other side of the hill was closed. I eventually got to where I needed to go. The only thing that stood in my way were the many poor drives in cars that shouldn’t be out in the snow. I went up and down hills I couldn’t walk up, it was just a very strange situation. I could drive normally. Even someone with no snow driving experience could get into an Audi and be able to get to wherever they needed to go. Only a snowcat is more capable in the snow.
Sorry for being long winded but I really like Audi’s and will always have at least one. You can let go of the steering wheel at 120, fly through turns that would take a professionally driver in a normal rwd car, and they look good to boot. I have on a set of Goodyear triple treads, best all season tire I have used in my entire life.
