Since this is your first post, we'll cut you some slack. It is customary to browse just a smidge before having others do the work for you. Take a look at some other threads right here on page one and you will see some S8-realted stuff. Be sure to post any extra info you might find as you are not the only one interested.

the 5.2L V10 is absolutely addicting... rolling down your windows is not an option... it's a must.

there's an abundant amount of power. feather the throttle and your butt dyno will tell you there's alot more - if you care to explore it. is the engine overkill for daily use? YES. would i settle for anything less? NO FREAKIN WAY!

Sweet thanks , i was wondering how the v10 would handle a 4,277 pound car as I know that engine is derived from the gallardo which is less in size and weight

ASdone Welcome to 6speedonline.

I have a S8 that I just bought a couple of months ago, I am loving this car beyond any expectation I had for it.
It is not a rocket, it is fast for a heavy huge sedan and what it does is always executed without any noise, harshness and always with finesse.
I have had/driven (longer than test drives) MBZ CL65/SL65, 2 Bentley Continental GT's and a 997Turbo in the last year and this is the car I am in love with and love driving. The V10 is a great engine, audi should have juiced more power out of it as the S8 needs it being so heavy but they didnt and this is what we got. Bottom line is that the S8 is understated and it wont get alot of looks from people that are not into cars, it will always fly inder the radar. You want straight line performance get a Benz, you want a sedan to throw you around like a sports car get a M5, you want the perfect balance between the 2, then get the S8, fit and finish and quality is the best bar none (bentley/rolls/maybach excluded).
Alot of guys here make fun of the car here RedDevil is one of them and likes to call it a Soccer Mom's type of car, which is pretty funny I though all soccer moms drove Bimmers and SUV's, LOL.

Anyway if you can go and drive one, dont know if you have because of your short thread.

Now, as far as the thread is concerned being this is your first post I wont be too hard on you, but as reddevil said do a search there has been many a posts and topics regarding practically any vehicle made, thought of being made, driven looked at etc. The search engine here is your friend and dont feel bad about engaging it, 99.9 percent of your questions will be answered.

thanks for the lengthy explanation and yes the search engine, a valuable tool, i will remember that, I agree I think more power could have been pushed out of that v10 but i guess they didn't want to go overboard, I love Audi and the A8/S8 is the car I have always wanted, I love luxury and power and this car has both. The Mercedes CLS55 AMG is the other car I would love to own!

The CLS55/63 is a great car, looks wise, power wise, but basically the rear seats are useless unless you have toddler's. I looked at them before but for the size of the rear seats whats the point then just get a coupe.
AMG makes some serious power out of their engines.
I never liked Bimmers and looked real hard at the M6 for awhile hoping it would mae me like the styling but still to this day I think Bangle should be shot, lol. Its a design that you either love or hate, no between. And dont even get me started onthe interiors of them.

Me and my brother have always had Audi's and always loved them, I had 2 RS6's etc etc.

Another Audi youmight wanna look at is the A8 W12, very rare prolly even more so than the S8 as there are only 500 S8's coming to the states vs maybe 200 W12's.

The A8/S8 is a beautiful design but typical audi in every shape or form, understated compared to the rest of the marques.

Good luck

Bajo

Wanna know what I think? I think it's plain garbage on wheels. It's for soccer moms with a self-esteem problem.

In reality, Audi stuffed five 2-cylinder engines in there and merged them into one, and calls it a V10 because the M5 has it. Apparently the "never follow" was an exception this time. And the so-called "B&O sound" is just a 1972 b&o boom box in the glove compartment.

Also, the body is indeed made of aluminium, except they forgot to mention that 96% of it is from old Uncle Ben's cans.

I'll pass.

Only kidding of course.
