Lets see if I can dispel the youth argument? I am 61, a total gearhead. My rides over the past five years have included a C2 Cab, C4S, Cayenne S and a 2005 996 TT "S" Cab. All fun cars and each with its own personality.

The RS4 is simply the most fun to drive of all the cars I listed. I have the Milltek full catback and Stratmosphere short shifter and the car is simply wonderful. I love listening to the engine sing, as it will and does! 5500 to 7500 is a blur and really does lay you back in the seat. There is no "boy racer" anything about the RS4. It eats the M3, M5 and will hold its own in a roll on with a Z06 up to 100. Almost as fast (notice I said almost, the TT had a PSI ECU upgrade, otherwise they (RS4 & TT "S") would be near parity) as my 05 TT "S" but hugely more engaging. There is just something very satisfying about being in and going fast in a 4-door sedan.

i have arranged for one.....now i'm starting to second guess whether i should hold out for some other color.....my last 3 cars have been silver/black....i'm thinking grey or black? or some other more exciting color as well. yes, it does look good in avus silver, i don't have a problem with whatsoever.

Ummmmmmmm, i understand you are a big gearhead and enthusiast, but lets be real about the league the RS4 it is in and the cars you are comparing it against, im never a negative or doubtful person, but have experienced all of the cars you have compared and owned some, and while the RS4 is a blast, fun it simply is not that quick, nowhere near it!

BUT it does sound great with the Miltek, handle amazing, grip corner look good too, i have no complaints about it and had good seat time in one

A lot of you who say "how many kids can afford an Rs4" don't live in LA.

I can understand why your wife and friend think it is aimed at the younger crowd cuz let's face it, if you live in west la than they are plenty of kids that can afford the car. But you shouldn't reall be concerned with that. Buy what you like.

I know it isn't as fun and it does't come in a stick but maybe look into an E55/E63Cls55/63 since it might be more age appropriate.

I dont know, im going to go against the crowd here and say it is. Not necessarily that Audi designed it to cater to that demographic, but it just seems to be a yuppie type of car. Like 25-35. Of course like everyone said, its obviously an awesome car and blends it all into one package so if you like it, who cares. But if you do, I would think it does cater to the "younger crowd". An M5 is probably better, and not much more expensive.

i do consider the m5 to be much more expensive but that's only because it's my opinion/budget.

i don't want that big of a car anyhow. i appreciate your thoughts and thanks for the reply!

i got bored of it very quick though. still can't find the exact answer why i went back to M5. i think it's a very well built car but i'm not feeling the price.

Arlng! Thanks for the input my friend (and thanks for taking care of me that day with the Techart Springs...Tom too).

Do you think that I like it a bit more given what i'm after (something a little diff than a merc/bmw, 4 doors, but that goes like a bat out of hell)?

I'm sure we'll see each other sooner than later.

Thanks and hope all is well.

If you're looking for something different than the RS4 is definitely the answer. Even in L.A. you just don't see them nearly as often as Merc/BMW.

I spend more time on the SoCal roads than most and I'm actually surprised whenever I see one. Merc and BMW on the other hand are almost like Hondas around here.

that was the reason i sold the M5 for RS4. wanted something different. maybe a little cheaper for daily but it didn't cut it. i can list things i like and i dislike if u want but i thought for the price difference i'd rather be in the M5. that's what happened in my case so i ended up getting another M5. it's just a better everyday car for me than the RS4.

i think the main reason was i had wished i was in a sports car when driving the RS4 but it's not. it's not as luxurious as M5 (both space & function) either which is important for me as daily car.

if u want a perfectly clean M5 look nowhere else. u can have mine.

yes, definately not as large as my e500 (returning it soon) but definately much larger than the 997 that i just sold. our children are 9 and 6 and even mom fit more than comfortably in the back seat.

looking for fast, exclusive, raw, fun, and four doors/trunk.

will probably take one down this saturday unless i decide to buy a 993 instead...then will have to be in the market for a daily driver. i think right now i'd rather drive a rs4 and find a 993 in my spare time.

regards
