Bad News for the first 200 R8 buyers

No Carbon Interior & No Carbon Engine Trim. Both are on world wide restriction and will not be offered, nor are they listed on the official US Order Guide. I have been advised that this restriction may be lifted after the first 200 unit allocation.

No deviating stitching offered, only the Extended Leather Package. No Exclusive options on the first 200 unit allocation.

Almost everything else is either standard equipment (including the Magnetic Ride and 19" 5 arm split spoke wheel) or in the REQUIRED Convenience and Nav packages.

In fact, there are only six options to be considered on an R8 order (in addition to the above mentioned REQUIRED packages);
1. Leather Package
2. Enhanced Leather Package
3. Carbon Sigma Side Blades (Limited Availability) You may order it and not get it, not guaranteed.
4. Bang & Olufsen Sound System
5. Metallic & Pearl Effects Paint
6. R-Tronic Transmission

The R8 is truely STUNNING in person. Saw it a few weeks back at Sevring for the 12hour. The Audi rep there mentioned that the Carbon package will be available as a dealer add on mid year, thats all though. I'm thinking of getting one, but not sure yet due to the V10 coming out and all.

Yea I hear you about the not purchasing a car in the first year My RS4 has been in the shop for the past three weeks. The Hydraulic clutch keeps collapsing and the pedal sticks to the floor. I might bee with out my car for another two weeks.

IMO manufacturers have been "rushing" cars to market in the past 10 years and combining that with the new technology has lead to alot of problems. My personal rule is to try and avoid first year as well.

I had the same sentiments at first... but there's two model years to go through before we see another engine, add to that the fact that the price difference will be very steep for a couple more cylinders. Whenever we see a new engine hopefully Lambo will have their lineup revamped...

jenk12m - You are correct on both counts. No ceramic brakes, at least through the 2008 MY. The US and Canadian seats are the same as the new TT seats.

I just put a deposit on a V10 R8. My local dealer says it will be about 1 year behind the V8, makes sense. So I expect to be able to get a car in about 16-20 months or so. No one really knows now... Lambo will probably give the Gallardo a power upgrade for model year 2009' in the fall of 2008', and it is very probable that the V10 R8 will be out then.

This is a very exciting product and it is very unfortunate (for the people that do not acquire) and fortunate (for those that do acquire) this limited production vehicle. Offroad does bring up some good points though. Here's the pricing of the car:

6speed manual 109000
Auto R tronic 118000

convenience pkg 3500
nav 2000
leather elements 2000
enhanced leather 5500
carbon sigma 2000
bang and olufson 1800
metallic paint 650

meh, I love carbon fiber, just look at my car - lol

Someday, I hope to graduate to an R8, once all these "issues" are all cleared up!
