Swedish Mag Says 579HP for the RS6
It's in swedish sorry.
http://www.automotorsport.se/nyhetsm...?version=54677
But considering they say "BMW M5 V10 (507 hk)" hk must stand for horsepower, so when they say "slutet betyder 579 hk, 426 kW och 5002 står för motorvolymen i kubikcentimeter."
Seems like it translate to 579hp from a 5.0L.

Okay, I did a little translation in swinglish. The last paragraph was great news for me
beware Porsche, BMW and even Ferrari & Lambo.
Unofficial information from Audi reveals that the new RS6-model will be the most powerful ever coming from Ingolstad. Twin turbos and a 5.0l V10 pushes the maximum power output to 579hp!
It sounds like hieroglyfs (code language), but when the Audi people talks about a number combination like "AUDI AG 4F 21 AAJ N31 N30 579 426 5002" can one understand a few things. The german "PKW class" number kan be compared to an insurance class and the numbers in the end means 579hp, 426kw and 5002 stands for the engine volume in cubic centimeters.
If the data that's leaked really is correct, then the next generation of Audi RS5 will be the most powerful model ever leaving the factory in Ingolstadt. The first data indicated that Audi would be putting there maximum power output just above the E60 V10 (507hp), but it now looks like BMW will be a fair amount behind. Mercedes and AMG will use there V12 in the 65-models to be able to keep up with the new monster.
Although, this is not enough, as Audi already has been developing a "plus version" which will arrive a year after the release of the RS6. This version is estimated to have over 600hp and should by that reach the need of power in a family race car.
Behind the powerful V10 engine is a new automatic gearbox from ZF which with it's six speeds will be able to handle 1000NM. And that will surely be needed, as the turbo engine probably will put out plenty of torque at low RPMs.
Audi doesn't stop at making a fast family car, but the new V10 engine from the RS6 will also jump down in the mid-engine sports car R8 - which have been known for a while. A small, light R8 with 579hp - that will be a great challenge for Porsche, Ferrari and the other sports car makers!

Okay more info, here is the main breakdown:
571hp according to this, but rumor has it 730lb ft of torque!!!
Carbon Ceramic brakes will be stock
DSG version later possible, also as previously a RS6+ version might be availble later too with 620-625hp so that might be what skojasevic heard.

Holy hp!
How many sedans/wagons have that much hp? That would surely place the Rs6 in elite company.
Should we assume that this engine wil have snails? 570 hp/730 tq is a lot to ask out of a 5.0L n/a engine.
With a DSG tranny, nothing short of a supercar would be able to touch this car...

579 hp is nice
but you have to understand that car will weigh about 4600lbs...
it has a quattro drive train, so it will have about a 25% drivetrain loss
so that 579 is really
~435 @ the wheels , when you do the power to weight ratio, the m5 still has it beat
but i didn't see that part about the 700lb of torque, so i am going to take back everything i said

The M5 is around 4,000 lbs, IIRC, while the S65 is 4,960 lbs, so Audi isn't coming in that bad.
However, the most interesting is that this engine will make its way into the R8, possibly having even more power there. THAT would kick ***!
