Opinions Wanted...

Hey all, new to the forums. Been a lurker for awhile b4 I decided to join. I am a current Japanese car nut turned Euro-nut after riding in an aquantences 500awhp Audi S4. I am in the market for an Audi, and I am looking at either an A6 2.7T Quattro or an S4 2.7T. Those of you who own or have owned either one, could you please chime in? I am concerned with parts that frequently need attention, and what the service calls on an Audi are like (ie-Good, Fair, Horrible, Expensive, Cost is Alright, etc.).
I am glad to be here and look forward to learning alot.

Welcome to 6speed.
I owned a 2000 S4. I had no issues with the car. The service for the car was Good. A fellow 6speeder is now the 3rd or 4th owner of the car after I sold it with 60,000 miles back in 2003.
Hopefully someone who currently owns one can be of more help in terms of the current service calls.

Kevin, thanks for the reply. I had read in another post that you had yours and is still going strong. I am in a huge debate with a buddy of mine that is a mechanice on all cars foreign. He absolutely hates Audi/VW cars. I told him that it all depends on the car, the kept condition, how it has been driven, etc, etc. I have considered other cars and everytime I see an Audi on the road I can't help but think "man, I really want one". So, I thought I would post and get opinions from people that have actuall experience with them.

No problem, I had a 95 Eclipse prior to my S4 and I am very glad I did the change.
I am sure that if you get one you will enjoy it.

Alright, I appreciate the heads up. There is a tuning shop near me that specializes in nothing but Euro cars. Everytime I drive by there he has a Porsche or an Audi on the lift with tons of others parked outside. He had a 996 Turbo last time I went by that he'd pulled the motor and they were doing a full turbo-IC-Exhaust-GIAC-upgrade path.

S4 2.7T is the most warrantied automobile that Audi has ever produced. They are hit or miss. If you mod them they break. Expensive and hard to work on, but there is something about the car that just makes you love it!
