WOW. This forum is getting dangerous now.. especiallly with the variety of income levels represented on this forum. Stuff like this (scamming) is also a subject even on the watch boards.

Rick, how about coming clean. 993 has a lot of good points. Who is this dealer you have a relationship with that screwed you? I can see maybe you ordered the car then maybe he decided to keep the markup himself by selling the car once it arrived. If that's the case why not just tell the truth?

Secondly, the car should have been spec'd out with the sales guy. Rick should have a copy of that spec sheet, signed by the dealer. I guess that was lost also.

Lastly, Rick wouldn't disclose the name of the Chicago dealer that "screwed" him on the deal. Of course, he picked an out of state dealer; we could easily have checked with any dealer in California. Nevertheless, it looks like he "lost" the name of that dealer as well.
993Fan, I agree 100% with your comments.

S4PLAY, the veil is off and your BS is showing through crystal clear. Just quit and leave our forum before you embarrass yourself any further.

Rick it was nice speaking with you again. I hope that you indeed get the car but I am not interested in a handshake because I have been warned by a lot of people and if you screw me I would look like an idiot. If you get the car more power to you.
Lastly you asked as part of the deal I make a public endorsement of you. Rick I appologize but at this time I need to just sit back and let you build your own reputation. I am sorry but I don't want to see people getting burned by anyone. I am not saying that you will I am just not into supporting someone I don't really know.
Once again thank you for the oppurtunity.

Aloha

Hard to imagine ordering a GT3 and an R8 simultaneously and only figuring out you can't afford one (both?) until so much later... Even then, if you can't buy it and pay the sales tax, etc and, if you must, flip it, just give up the allocation to someone that wants the car (preferably before it is too late for them to spec it themselves). All in all, given the circumstances presented, it is hard to give him the benefit of the doubt when as a bystander it really plays out like he is usurping allocations and speccing cars with the intent to flip from the start.

I would imagine he's not interested in intentionally screwing anyone because it would mess up his side business of car flipping.

It's not exactly a new concept, you get on lists for highly desirable cars, buy them, and then turn around and sell them to people who have plenty of money but couldn't get on the list. The difference is usually professional flippers buy the car first before they start trying to get people to send them money.

In this case it doesn't sound like he has the money to begin with, so he gets people to pony up the cash so he can buy the car from the dealer, and keep whatever is left over from the transaction. The problem with this is that it makes me think he's not getting on the list to begin with because he probably doesn't have the money for a deposit either and if he doesn't get someone to deal with him he would have to walk away from his deposit since he doesn't have the money to buy the car.

My guess is he probably scours car dealer inventories nationwide for places where there is less demand for these sorts of cars and when he finds a dealer who doesn't require a deposit or has a car in inventory, then he posts a "FEELER" thread to see if he can get someone to bite. Just a hunch.

In short, I wouldn't necessarily call him a scammer, because I'm sure he intends to deliver the described car if at all possible, but he is probably deceiving people about how he's going about getting these cars to begin with. People should still be very wary though since you're going to be overpaying, and there's nothing to guarantee he'll actually be able to get the car he says he will (if he could, he would probably just put them on eBay).

Now that is the truth.

He definitely was attempting to spec cars and flip them for profit under the guise that he was a bonafide buyer and just changed his mind.

The problem with S4PLAY's scam was he needed the car first to flip before he can deceive a prospective buyer.

He found a buyer in ByronMaui, but did not have the R8 under contract in the first place to flip for profit.

What a jerk (S4PLAY) for wasting the time of legitimate buyers and getting their hopes up.

s4play came out with a thread telling everyone that he got multiple offers of $25K over MSRP on his spec'd 997 GT3 (when other 6speeders were pointing out they were selling at MSRP all over the country). He then tells 6speeders that he won't let the car go for anything less than $25K over MSRP. He then tells 6speeders that they can save on sales tax because he would be selling it as a private party sale. Now he's got an R8 coming. But if you read some of his posts from other forums, he had a Gallardo coming last year. But read a little deeper, and he say's he can't come up with $70K to step into a CLS55. Man, I need to get a life.

Rick,
i'm surprised u didn't get back to me because my friend is interested in it. unless u have problem with the dealer otherwise i don't see why this is not going through.

Guys,
i have to be fair on this. i don't think Rick is trying to scam anyone. bashing him here is not gonna help the situation. plain & simple. he's trying to make some quick cash by flipping those cars. no comment on the intention but it is what it is. however, if ur dealer finds out what u're trying to do i doubt they'll still give u the car. i don't care how good the relationship u have with them this will end it. that's also probably why u can't talk to ur dealer having my friend takes the car directly from them.

u can't predict what the maket will be in the next 6 month. therefore if u want to play the game don't expect people will pay u the 15k now when the car is that far down the road. the whole fun is to buy & sell. like a gamble if u have the dough to play don't play. ur intention will prove urself. if u want the car buy it drive it sell it if u don't like no one will blame u for that. if u're set trying to make some quick cash ahead i can tell u the internet forums ae the last places u want to let the word out. u've seen it. i certainly wouldn't trade 15k profit for my name & reputation.

good luck.
