Asking price: $19,900. I'm looking to replace it with a sedan with which to take family vacations with and use as a daily driver. The M5 suits the latter but the ride is a little too sporty for our longer drives with a full car. I have in mind an Audi A8/S8 (earlier version to stay within budget). Other trades might be considered. Maybe even a BMW e34, E30, E36 318ti (with manual transmissions for any of those).
- I'm the second, California owner.
- It's all original paint in very good/excellent shape.
- Not cosmetically perfect but still really nice. I think it's the right balance to really enjoy it as a daily driver, which I've been doing for the past year.
- Lots of stuff taken care under my one year's ownership: R134 A/C conversion, suspension revised to Sport Konis (SLS eliminated), new front control arms, tie rod ends, thrust arms.., etc. etc.
- Interior is in excellent shape, with only slight wear of the color at the usual bolster areas. The seats are still cushy, heaters work, all electrics work.
- New throwing star wheel covers; original turbine covers kept as spares
- Projector beam headlights; originals kept as spares
- Engine and transmission are in original, excellent condition. Recent major tune with valve adjustments
- New clutch installed recently to replace the heavy original one
Only things which *might* need improvement:
- rear of headliner billows when moving with windows down
- only one minor wet spot on my garage floor - transmission fluid, but is very small amount. Mechanic says it's not worth taking out the tranny for such a minor issue.
