i hope i am wrong but i think it will be awhile before Brabus makes their stuff available in the united states.

also, i think if you have a reservation # and are planning on passing it on to someone else you have to take delivery and sell it as used. thats the case with me and the car i am buying.

I got official word - mine is on the boat as of last friday.

I spoke to Andreas at Brabus USA this morning and he said there is no plan for Brabus USA (which is just a franchise and NOT owned by Brabus Gmbh) to carry anything related to the SMART. Andreas said that Penske signed an exclusive contract with both Brabus and SMART and theorizes that Penske will ultimately become the exclusive U.S. distributor of Brabus parts for SMART.

I attempted to contact Brabus Canada (aka Deutche Tech), but could not reach anyone. I did however find out they are serviced by Brabus USA, so I imagine they will have no access to parts either.

Finally, I contacted SMART center Vancouver to see if they could assist (since Canada does have the new Brabus version). They are allowed to sell the cosmetic parts, but nothing performance related.

If I were a betting man, I would say the Brabus model will arrive in the US for 2009. If the european pricing model holds true, it will be a $9,000 upcharge above the passion, bringing the price close to $24,000. At this point will it even be worth it to buy a SMART? Why not buy a Mini S for a little more money and get twice the power?

i think its totally worth it to buy a smart car. for me, power is not an issue. i like the idea of the smart car, think its got character. wheels are the first mod but looks like it could be pulling teeth if you want 17's. any ideas are totally appreciated.

trojan, i must say you rock for all of the info and time spend gathering it. thanks man.

I have seen on on my last trip to Taiwan and it looks pretty cool sitting in the Benz dealer over there.

Does anyone who took delivery of their SMART car post some pics of it perhaps parked in a normal garage? Maybe next to your P-car

Looks like a fun "toy" to own!

Ours will be here within the next couple weeks. It is a passion vert in red/black. I am not feeling the red though, too much orange. My wife is on board with murdering out(she is a big Rob and Big fan) her Smart car so that should be interesting...perhaps a little pathetic

Here is a picture of ours next to one of our bikes.

Yes, the bike is longer.

Yes, the bike has wider tires by a large margin!

I was offered $5k+ over MSRP on mine, but wanted to keep it more. You could've kept your spot and sold the car for $5k more. They are doing well on eBay.
