I love these cars but dont they have some MAJOR fundamental drivertain issues, like the drive axle bends after a while, or something?

Being a fully aluminum chasis and obviously open car, there is the potential for frame deformation or front shock tower deformation. Having heavy(weight) run flats and pretty heavy oem wheels too did not help. Most of the cars that had issues either involved potholes or very hard driving, although that should not, or course, be a reason for frame damage.
Anyway, BMW, while carefully never admitting any full liability, offered a "performance pack" that is basically a strut tower brace combined with a system to reinforce the shock towers.
I believe that there has been no further issue with any of the cars that have fitted this package and its, relatively, a large number at this point.
And yes, very cool cars.
