1988 Porsche 911 Cab - Red: NOW WITH PICTURES!

This is an IMMACULATE example of the air cooled Porsche era. It's a red 911 cabriolet, black leather interior (nearly perfect - seats in incredible condition), with a 5-speed (G50) transmission. The car is in pristine condition, especially given its age. It's had all the preventative maintenance done (and then some), and as such remains unbelievably reliable as well as a ton of fun to drive.

This is a Minnesota car, but it is stored in our heated garage all winter. It comes out on April fools day, and hibernates on Halloween. She lives under a Porsche cover all winter, and gets detailed weekly. The car is adult and enthusiast driven (We’ve owned multiple Porsches, as well as many other performance cars), but has never been tracked, launched or abused. The most this car sees is the occasional row through the first three of four gears….Just barely stretching legs of what this car is capable of.

The car currently sits at 91,XXX miles. I have all the original manuals/documentation, and additionally, the car has very thorough maintenance records, and I’ll outline some of them:

6/6/08 – New 255/40/17 Yokohama S-Drive tires. Fronts are in decent condition (Yokohama ES100). (Discount Tire Company)
5/18/08 – Replaced the control unit for the power top, as well as replacing the top itself (Minor tear due to not folding the bar back) (Carousel Porsche)
4/9/07 – Replaced a dead wiper switch (Carousel Porsche)
3/2/05 – Car received a new head gasket, valve guides, clutch, piston rings, valve job and replaced the speedometer transmitter and hatch strut. Motor was FULLY freshened. (Jeppesen Imports)
9/23/04 – Car was given a leak down test (Results #1, 2% #2, 4% #3, 4% #4, 4% #5, 4% #6, 3%), brakes were bled and the steering column bearing was replaced. Also installed were new Bosch Platinum plugs, a new fuel filter, and a new alternator belt. (Jeppsen Imports)
4/16/04 – Repaired a door ding in drivers door. (Lamettry’s Collison)
6/27/03 – Car received a new battery, alignment and rewelded a broken sway bar mount. (Holman Automotive)
6/12/03 – Car got the 17” C2 wheels to replace the factory 16” Fuchs. (Discount Tire Company)
6/4/03 – Replaced the right rear CV boot, and repaired a frayed reverse light wire. (German Auto Works)
4/18/01 – A/C was recharged (we NEVER use it) (Dealer Automotive Services)
As you can see above, virtually everything has been done to this car with meticulous care. All the shops that have touched the vehicle have thorough reputations for being the best Porsche mechanics in the Twin Cities area. Even looking at the leakdown test, there was really no need to freshen the car up, rather it was just one of those “it’s about time” kind of things. I also have a pretty heft list of oil-changes, buying new wipers and other relatively insignificant items (Always use full synthetic oil, at first, Castrol European, recently Mobil 1).

Other than that, virtually nothing has been done to the car - it starts right up every spring, and runs like a top all summer. For what it’s worth, we nearly always use Shell’s premium gas with no ethanol. No expense is spared.

Modifications:
17” Porsche C2 wheels.
White gauge faces. The stock black faces made the gauges nearly invisible at night. OEM parts.
Pioneer head unit and speakers.
Authority Performance Engineering software.

(I have all the documentation for all these parts except for the gauge faces, as they were purchased on eBay)

The car is missing a few of the metal grommets/buttons from the top cover, which we have ordered. Beyond that, the car has no other known issues that I can think of, and the pictures truly speak for themselves. I’m more than happy to take additional pictures, answer any questions, and provide maintenance history or anything else that I can possibly do. Test drives are available for local buyers, but I will not tolerate any joyrides, nor incompetent drivers.

Pictures courtesy of Luke James Photography out of Minneapolis. High resolution pictures are of course available.

Priced at $27,500

I can definitely take some (though they won't be as pretty, as they're coming from a point and shoot).

Any specific points you'd like to see/an e-mail address to send them to (so as to not clutter this whole thing up).

What needs to be done to get this car to sell? I can't keep sitting on it.
