Still looking! I had a feeling when I started this that the search would take a while...

 

Have you considered a Noble? I know of a few for sale in that range.

 

I'd avoid the Nobel and the Radical both... I still have the sales brochure and video from the folks who were building the Ultimate back in the 90s.

There is a huge difference in the Ultimate and how it was designed to work, and the other two mentioned, and I've been on track with all three... A well sorted Ultimate is a challenge for my highly modified 996TT track day toy. The other two were childs play.

Also, the Nobel I test drove before buying my TT, the build quality was a joke and the car had issues on the test drive, almost leaving us stranded on the side of the road... Not worth the price of entry at all.

Hey, thanks for the post. I've been watching that auction.

After I actually had a chance to see an Ultima GTR in person in Portland this summer (along with a year's worth of reading PistonHeads), I've become convinced that I probably don't have the mechanical wherewithall to own/maintain one of these cars. I still get tempted everytime I see a picture though...
