mjsporsche,

You are correct I just do not wish to go any further on this issue, I am affraid it may get much worse. Even though the seller is willing to approach the dealership about the oil filter issue, that is not the main cause for my dilema. Best thing for me to do is to move on. Again, thank you.FJN

Dave29,
I hear you man, it trully sucks to be in this type of situation. At least for me it does, I trully appreciate cars for what they are, a work of art. Once a car has been re-sprayed, no matter how good the blend is, sooner or later the paint will fade, peel or differ from original, the idea behind this car was to keep it for a long time to come. As I thought it was the ideal Porsche to own. Now that is out the window and I am holding a car that depreciated over night. Good luck to you with your issue, I hope it is resolved quickly. Regards, FJN

I swear I saw the same service book page with the stamps on the ebay ad, but it's since been pulled?

Only Andy can verify given VIN WP0AC2992TS376183. If it's the same, then (smh).

This guy is trying to sell the car on Ebay now with no mention of respray!

I can’t believe the nerve of this buyer. He is now trying to sell the car. Here is his new Ebay auction description (you can skip over everything else but read what is in bold):

You are bidding on a 1996 Porsche 993 twin turbo with only 30160 mies, Midnight Blue with Blue and Marble Gray supple leather interior. 6 speed, all wheel drive. I am the 3rd owner and have all records since day one. Records include all services rendered to the car during its life time, including the 30K mile service done just 100 miles ago. Clear title in my hand, clear CarFax included. Interior is 10 out of 10, exterior is a 9 out of 10 because front nose and hood area have road rash due to stones chipping the clear coat away. This happens to all these Porsches and I refuse to re-spray those areas as this is the original paint.

Look at pictures, do your research, compare to other Turbos in here and then come back and buy this one, does not get any better than this. Ask any questions prior to bidding, I will do my best to answer. Car is sold "AS IS" no warranty offered or implied. I hold the right to end listing early as I have the car advertized locally. Good Luck.

There are no mentions of respray anywhere in the description. He also says, “and I refuse to re-spray those areas as this is the “original paint”. That’s pretty misleading if you ask me. Sounds like he is saying the whole car is “original paint”. He knows about it, does not disclose any of it, and also includes in his description a something misleading to make it sound as though it is completely original. That’s the worse.

Before I saw the Ebay auction, I was already thinking, the buyer was negligent in doing his own investigations. He acted like, buying the car was no big deal and then proceeded to purchase the vehicle sight unseen. He didn’t see it in person, and did not get a PPI done by a neutral party. He just asked the seller a couple of questions and bought it. All of a sudden, he became “Mr. Concourse” as AW21 said and wanted a car with original numbers, paint and the whole nine yards. Will any of you out there buy a car with those expectations and not see it or inspect it? I wouldn’t. It doesn’t look to me like the seller was trying to hide anything he knew.

I've heard that even new cars have had paintwork before delivery with no disclosure from dealer due to transport damage! On another forum, someone said, "I had a new BMW sold to me with delivery mileage and a blend on 2 panels, repaired for shipping damage with no disclosure".

Again, FJN is trying to get rid if the car by saying it is “original paint” and not mentioning anything about respray even though we all know that he has knowledge of it. He also mentions that he has a Carfax even though he said to the seller that “ a Carfax is worthless as far as I’m concrened”. He also goes on to declare that the car is worth $20k less from $71k to $51k, while his auction starts at $65k and buy it now is at $72,500!

Bottom line. He was careless and negligent in his own inspections when purchasing the car, and when something didn’t go perfectly, he blames everything on the seller. In my opinion, the seller was set up for a trap that he was not able to avoid even though he tried to be as honest as forthcoming as possible. All the while, FJN acts like a saint that would never do that to someone else. He then turns around and tries to get rid of the car with with no disclosure and a misleading “original paint” comment even though he knows it all. By the way, I noticed he just ended his Ebay listing. Why did you do that FJN? Is it because you were caught red handed? What a hypocrite!

Very interesting to say the least.

This entire situation seemed very odd. Buyer is upset. But does not ask the seller for some price adjustment. Seller says lets talk. Buyer says it is too late and concerned about opening up a can of worms. Now the car is advertised for sale without disclosures.

It is me or does all of this seem a bit much to absorb in one sitting.

The reason the e-bay is was pulled is because the car is sold, none of your business by the way. You have no clue as to what I disclosed or didnt disclose to the new owner. Again none of your business. To call me a hypocrite whitout you knowing me or any of what was discussed during the sale of the car goes to show just how ignorant you are. Basically I am wasting my time responding to you, but since you insult me without even knowing who I am then there is your response. Abortion terminated. Good bye

mjsporsche,

I really dont care how odd this may seem to you, the one holding the sh*t end of the stick was me, car is sold at a huge loss for me. None of you giving opinions are the new owners of the car, therefor none of you know exactly what I disclosed to him, and since the car is sold then this is the end of this abortion for me. Good bye

You don't need to know anyone on a forum to make a comment. That's what it's for. I'd like to hear your answer to this question. Why didn't you disclose the respray on the Ebay description as you said the seller should have on his description? Why did you make the misleading comment saying, ""as this is original paint". You could have said, there is respray in the back but you didn't. Why don't you spend a minute of your precious time and explain that one.

By the way, I think you were pretty foolish inn going about this the way you did. Instead of trying to ruin the sellers name you could have just solved this in private with the seller (he seemed to want to work with you) but instead you chose to be nasty to him and tell the whole world your car is only worth $51k? What a joke. Then you turn around and try to sell it for more? Why are you selling it for $72,500 anyways? Tell us the answer to that one too while you're at it.

Yeah. My issue is that you are a hypocrite that goes around acting like a saint while trying to ruin other people's good names. All you can say is abortion terminated? You responded to 5 pages of threads and once you were caught doing much worse than what you crucified the seller for, you now have no answers? How convenient.

So how much did you pay for this car, how long have you owned it and why did you sell it are the questions I would like to know ?

Good friend of mine bought it, on its way to South America. He could give 3 sh*ts if it had a re-spray or it didnt. I, on the other hand, did care as I said before I paid a premium because I thought it was untouched. Its funny how some idiots give their opinions in here as if they owned the car or had any knowledge of anything. Bottom line...Gone, end of story.

Bottom line is you tried to unload the car in a shady way on Ebay. Let's not talk about what you and your friend talked about. You described the car on the forum as worth $51k and you try to sell it on Ebay for $72500 buy it now. So why didn't you describe it since now you have knowledge it? And we are the idiots?

Answer the questions you were asked instead of calling people names. Unless you have no answers because you're just a shady individual.
