Looking for a 911 in Northern Virginia
Hi All,
I am new to the forum and am looking to purchase a 2008-2010 911 Carrera S coupe in the next couple of months, if I can find the right car. I have joined the forum to connect into the Porsche community and gain as many insights as I can before my purchase. Many years ago I purchased a new 1984 Porsche 944 and drove that on the autobahn in Germany for 2 years. I sold that car after a few years because of a growing family, and miss it to this day. I have been looking forward to owning a 911 ever since then, and now the time is right for me.
As I start my research, one big question is who can I trust in the local area to do a Pre-Purchase Inspection? I live in Fairfax, Virginia and have a couple of dealers locally (Porsche of Arlington and Tyson's Corner Porsche) and a couple of cars sales places that I have seen (Select Auto Imports and Intersport Performance). Can anyone assist with a couple of trust worthy shops in my local area, based on your experiences?
I would love to find a solid, low mileage 1 or 2 owner car, that I can use as a daily driver (no track time for me). So far I have started searching on-line in the Washington Post used cars site, Edmunds, AutoTrader, and CarMax. Are there other good used car web sites that anyone would recommend?
I am very excited about my plans and would like to do as much homework I can to improve my chances of a finding the best 911 possible. Any and all recommendations and insights will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

jonp911,
Thanks for the note. I am shooting for an 08-10 S model (Carrera S, 4S or Turbo), below 25k miles, and a solid CarFax report. I've see several reasonable cars for sale locally, and a good number on the national for sale sites. I am definitely going to try and find one locally first, and just want to understand and get a good PPI before I decide. I am just learning about the 997s on-line, and I am really exited about getting back into a Porsche.
Best of luck with selling your car. It sounds great just from your one line description.
All the best,
