FYI, an automatic 928 is not a GT, it is an s4. In 90-92 the GT is the manual trans.

 

I guess that was wishful thinking that it was a manual. I made this correction and thank you

 

Can anyone else confirm that automatics are S4's? I am debating this with the seller I am buying from. He claims Gt's where also made with automatic transmissions

GTs by definition were only made as 5 speeds from 1989 through 1991. there were a few 5 speed s4's made in the early 1989 model run but they all were lacking the gt option code (639 if i recall correctly)
1992 model year no 928s of any kind were imported to the US. 1993 resumed with the gts available in both 5 speed and automatic.

There is lots of confused advertising out there because the 928 was built as a "GT" car. Also, there was only one owners manual for the s4 and GT cars from '89-91 with 928S4 and 928GT prominently displayed on the front cover so if the owner has the original books, they may assume it is a GT. Lastly, the GTs have routinely fetched more when sold, because 5-spds are more desirable and harder to find, so many get advertised as GT because buyers get more excited about GTs.
