Wtb 996

Hi all... I'm looking to buy a 2002 to 2004 996 AWD 911 coupe. I live in the Seattle area (about 25 miles southeast) and am looking to spend no more than $25000. Anyone know of a good place to look or know of any that are for sale? I've checked the usual suspects (CraigsList, EBay, AutoTrader, Cars.com, etc) but I'm wondering if I'm missing something.
Thanks for the help. This will be my first Porsche, so I'm a "newbie" for sure.

If you are a true "newbie" you might want to do a lot of searching on the potential issues of 996s. There are a few!

A bunch of Porsches for sale here......

Thanks for the help. The search is on!

Other than IMS and RMS issues (and I've read something about window actuators) do these cars (non-turbo) have any other major problems? Do the AWD systems have any problems. I currently have an Audi TT and the haldex units on the AWD can be a maintenance hog.

Thanks

Awesome looking car. Since I live in the Seattle area (near the mountains) I'm looking for a coupe instead of a convert. That said, if global warming really kicks in...

Thanks

I was in the same boat as you - I was originally going for a 996 C4S but after doing some reading about the IMS issue and getting the Mrs. to up the budget, I went the 997 route. I love the look of the 996 C4S but would sleep better at night knowing there would be no IMS issue.

With that being said, I live in Seattle as well. I assume you looked locally at places like Elliott and Park Place? Maybe even Cats Exotics? I saw a few on Craigslist a while back in Portland as well.

I got the Mrs to OK the budget I have, so 996 it is. Hah

I've looked around at all the local spots and CraigsList/Ebay. What bums me out is that cars in the Seattle area seem to be priced MUCH higher than everywhere else... even just across the border in Oregon or Canada. The cars I'm finding are on average $5,000 more here than elsewhere. I'm hesitant to buy a car without seeing it in person and driving it due to being burned by that process in the past. I'm not in a super rush to buy something, so I'm just keeping my eyes open and checking to see what's out there. If anyone here's of a local deal, please let me know.

Thanks
