If you can't take half a day off to go get a car I suppose it's hard to pay MSRP, especially depending on where you live. I'd rather spend more time driving to the dealership than sitting there negotiating a price.

Went to the BMW dealer yeterday on Steven's Creek and they had 4 on the lot, seems like they have traded with another dealer (based upon ship to location) to get around "dealer mark-ups".

If there are that many around so early in the cycle, it doesn't seem like they're going to hold the premium for long. They are only asking $10K over sticker (down from $25K).

I guess there is a fire sale coming on the M5 before too long.
Stevens Creek still thinks its pre stock market correction days (circa 2000). A friend and I went into Stevens Creek BMW during the boom years for an E39 M5. As we're tech guys we show up in t-shirt, jeans, check book. The sales force ignored us. They rather flirt with the receptionist.

I can't stand any of the dealerships on Stevens Creek (Benz, Audi, BMW, they all suck)

Sorry for the tangent ... back to the story

They had a black M5 with 1200 or so on the ODO. 85K over MSRP was the sticker. 85K over on a USED car. When we finally forced someone to help us. We made an offer of 25K over the sticker on the USED car. They shooed us away rule saying "we do not negotiate on M5s"

Boy how times have changed! I wouldn't pay 25K over on an M5. 10 is still high. 25K over on a 430 maybe, and even then I'd think about it. (For 10 seconds)

Cheers,

-p

MSRP in Bay Area (Cali)

For sure the over sticker premium wont hold!

Saw this on the M5 board:

Valley BMW (Modesto)

Indianapolis red with black interior @ MSRP
Howard Currey @ 209 575-0269

It creates bad blood between dealer and their customers.

The M5 market will pick up with the introduction of the 6 speed manual.
Doubtful seeing as most high performance cars are being ordered with the F1 style boxes aka the F430s and F360s.

I was talking someone into buying a used Murchi the other day and had them convinced until they found out it was only available in 6 speed.....

no I can't take the time and don't like to deal with transport companies plus I've had the car for a good couple months now so I didn't have to wait for pricing to come down.
