GT3's (997.1/2) were Mezger equipped through the GT3 RS 4.0, 2012 MY. The 991 GT3 Cup used a Mezger into 15/16.

The Mezger engine continued in the .2 GT3 as well as the GT3 4.0, GT2 and GT2 RS, but the other 997.2 models went to the new engine design (including the turbo's). The 997.1 turbo is the last of the turbo Mezger engines.
The Mezger engine survived even longer in their 911 Cups cars and other racing platforms.

997.2 used mezger for gt3, gt3 rs, and 4.0 rs. 997.2 turbo used a variant of the 9a1 in the c2s, which was DFI. 3.8 mezger for 997.2 gt3 is thought to be less reliable than the 3.6 in the 997.1. No mezger ever had dfi, that's the 9a1.
