Well if you like overpaying for a 20yr old car, be my guest. I'll continue to be exposed to the "wrong" ones...

I agree with this to an extent, with the exception for the car being either a 2005 Turbo S or as I mentioned in my OP one of those BAT garage queens.

Added the price as it was my mistake to presume that saying driver's car was enough.

I was at the PCA meeting here in Fresno this week and a member is selling a 2002 996tt for $42,500. Blue over tan, 87k miles. Thats all I know but if you're interested I'll make a connection. Seller is SUPER great guy with a VERY impressive collection.

Sometime you want that special one and will pay a premium especially if that key our end game with mods. Some will see the value, but it’s a smaller audience than the 2005TTS that BAT has been bringing lately. I can tell you I spent quite a bit on mine then sent to have a lot of preventative work done (pinning, clutch, suspension bits, shifter, pumps, hoses, expansion tank, fluids....) then added some personal touches- wheels/seats/BBIbar. Smaller audience for a car like this but Inhope to keep and enjoy.

OP- happy hunting, that’s half the fun!

Prices are def up, even moreso in the recent few months (maybe due to summer). That being said, I'd pay 10k more for the right car that has some good items taken care of (i.e. clutch, CSF rads, etc) as these are expensive maintenance items that will put the car down.

Spend less now = spending more later.

I have an 03 Seal Grey X50 aero kit car with black full leather and sport seats that will be going up on Bring a Trailer in the next week or so.

Miles are at 69k and it's also pretty heavily modified (upgraded turbos and all supporting mods). Has pinned lines, and full clutch hydraulic overhaul with a Tilton triple plate clutch (no power steering assist, new clutch master cylinder with hydraulic throw out bearing). Plus tons of common issues fixed and preventative maintenance done during my ownership.
