Wow, what's the story with that? Sounds like a great deal for the right buyer!

 

I purchased a couple of years ago a number of engines and gearboxes from the factory. What I was told is that engines are randomly chosen for dyno testing to check performance parameters ( couple of hours only) and then sold. Original plan was to use for race car(s) but I have 2 more than I need,and have decided to rationalise.Happy to answer any questions here or privately.

Just to clarify that for you, when I visited the factory they showed us the procedure. Every engine is dyno tested before going into a car, a heavy load is put on each one to break it in as well as test for HP. Randomly one engine per day is tested even more thoroughly, one tech spends the whole day testing it. Its then dis-assembled and not used in a vehicle.

 

I have had that description also and some variations-- so so where there is the fact. Engine is assembled and ready for installation or upgrading!

 

how much was this engine directly from porsche?

 

Engine was bought from Porsche with a number of other engines and gearboxes -- so this price is relatively cheap compared to you buying one.
