Looking for an M3.... 2002 or so
I don't think that the prices are going to drop as much as people are talking about with the new M coming out. The V8 will drive sales, but the car is more of an e36 M compared to a stock 3, unlike the e46 M being a completely diff car compared to a stock 3.

The US version E36 M3 was basically a "332is" motorwise, but still had all the chassis goodies from the euro. Either way, I dont think this really matters to the average consumer, who has the most effect on the market pricing.
The E46 prices will start dropping more and more once the E92 hits the ground. The E36 prices did the same exact thing when the E46 came out. I clearly remember my $30k E36 M3 turning into a sub $20k car in no time...
i cant believe how ugly the e92 is
man the e46 is the sexiest car on the road.
the only thing stopping me from getting one now is the lack of a parking space/garage in brooklyn and that im a cheap *** jew

As someone who recently bought an 03 M3, you probably won't find your price point until mid-2008. If you're lucky, you might grab one this winter.
A quick Cars.com search nationwide showed 1 car that meets your price/miles and it has front end damage. Decent e46 M3's start in the 29's and go up from there. A 2003 will set you back well more. Plus, while I love my M3, I don't fully trust that 3.2 engine - hell the bottom end was coming out on new cars. You buy cheap to save a few bucks over a well cared for 1-owner car and you might be in for big $$$ trouble.
$0.02
