sorry, not that I wouldn't but it's out of my price range : (

thanks for the interest though. = ) To bad it wasn't a GT3, i'd take it in a heartbeat.

Interestingly, had i bought a GT3 instead of my 996Turbo, i would've kept it and saved prolly 15k in taxes and depreciation over 6 months...

i hate myself

i think you better really think about it. it sounds to me that the m5 is your only car, hoping from the v10 to a 997s is a substantial amount of difference in torque and power, and at your age especially, you will miss it and regret your decision. it may sound ok for now maybe cause youre bored with the car, but you be kick yourself in the *** for that trade.

Anyone wanna let me hop into their 996GT3 for a spin ? = )

thanks eric k, I appreciate your input. I am kicking myself in the *** right now for going from an M3 -> 996 Turbo -> M5 when I wanted a 996GT3 before I got the 996Turbo. I simply couldn't justify the cost... and now i'm wasting a crapload of $ taking the long route....

Your M5 IS NOT and I repeat, IS NOT, ugly. That was quite the ******* comment to make to somebody. If you think it, fine, after all looks are purely subjective... but to tell somebody that is just ****ing rude. I would not get hung up on the age thing at all. Actuallly, if I wasn't looking to cut my car expense from its current level, I would look at an M5 right off the bat. I need to be in the $45K range for a year or two but after I sell the Z06 and am in a position to spend $70-80K again, the M5 will be one at the top of my list.

thanks i appreciate the input. I love the way the M5 looks. I must admit, the e39 M5 is still my favorite M5 of all times, just simply under powered for modern times.

Can someone chime in and let me know if i'm going in over my head to look for a 996GT3? How much more are they compared to an M5? I was looking into 997S, but the fact that I've wanted a 996GT3 since before I had my M3, i wanted to at least give them another shot.

996GT3 are still pretty pricey and not that readily available for sale. Those that have them...keep them

You should be able to find a nice low mile 996 GT3 for low-mid $70's... I know of one that was perfect, with only 3k miles and GT3 seats for mid $70's a few months ago.

They've taken a pretty good hit since the 997 GT3's have come out.

Chill out dude. It was meant as a joke if you follow bmw diehards there has always been a lot of criticism over bangles designs. Personally, I prefer the e39 design but as the original poster stated so does he.
BTW, the big yellow laughing face is to indicate the comment was made tongue in cheek.

lol.. this 6spd vs m5board crap where everyone thinks they drive god's car is just ridiculous .. but funny nontheless. I've had both, and I think it just depends on what you need, like and want. Both are incredible cars.

with that said, I test drove a GT3 today. It was an experience like non other. Unfortunately, the car was an obvious track only car w/ external ignition switch and fire extinguisher that fills the entire chasis. Not what I'm looking for, but still a great drive.

My next car for sure will be the M5. My 550 has the M5 rims, and body kit, but no gills and no 500HP

Beautiful car, good luck!
