New style of straight pipe 996 exhaust for sale at special forum member price

Am passing on info for a new type of 996 exhaust that gives you the insane sound of straight pipes and the "daily liveability" of sport mufflers. The way these are designed they add no vibration into the car cabin like most sport mufflers do, and they are all hand made out of stainless. The sound is nicely tuned and has some ferocious snap to it, yet it is stealth enough for daily cruising through town. Watch the vids.

The maker is AfterHours Automotive in Wilmington, CA (Near San Pedro / Long Beach), and the shop has a long history of making custom parts for team race cars, particularly exhausts. I have had the test set on my pcar for over 1200 miles and they have been fantastic!!! Plus I dropped 20+ pounds of weight and picked up up 10hp and more TQ vs. my stock cans.

Videos here:

(be sure to choose "watch high quality video" or the sound / pic will be lame)

Raffi- 997 is next on the list per Brian. He needs a donor car to take measurements, if you are up for that let me know and i'll make the hookup. You'll get a set at cost to make them plus installation would be free.

I think the only diff with 997 is the exit pipe that connects to the 997 tips. The bracket mount on the engine and connection to cat pipe is same as 996 I believe.

Neil- Check out the dyno video at the above link. Made consistent 10whp gain and TQ numbers were higher across the band, paticularly lower and mid range. It is noticeable when driving the car. We were all quite surprised and the dyno test was more for ensuring performance was not negatively impacted- nice result!!

Just to add to the above note, the 997 tail pipe is closer to the center of the bumper. Minor stuff!

Raffi, are you coming to Eli's open house this Fri. at 7pm? He has a new service center for Porsche. Cars, models, raffle prizes, food & drink.

Will these fit on the 3.4 996 engines? What about a 'ball park' price?
Thanks,

Thanks Peter- you would know about the 997 exhaust on 996 better than anyone eh?
Should be an easy adjustment, but a 997 car is needed to take measurements.

Last Car- Yep will fit, same exhaust mounts. I'm not posting $ here because I don't want to break any forum rules. I'll send you a PM w/ info.

Racesx- Yep bolts right on like regular mufflers- click the video link and check out the video of them on my car while on the lift, at the end of the video they removed one in like one minute.

Raffi / Racesx- will send PM's shortly.

Hi all- If anyone is interested in the new AfterHours Sport Mufflers, I have final news on the intro price.

Anyone who orders before July 4 will get the set of mufflers at $200 below price listed on their website. No GB needed for the price, that was my mis-information.
All you have to do is call Brian at AfterHours and tell him you are from 6speed forum and want the intro deal. That's it.
Installation can also be arranged, but IMO it is a pretty simple DIY.

http://www.afterhoursautomotive.com > This will be my last post on the subject, I've worked the best deal I can for forum members and I think the product is a clear winner.

IMO these mufflers fill the previous product gap with regular mufflers being too tame and straight pipes being too loud for daily use. I'd say these are a "just right" loud muffler with manners, plus they added good TQ/HP across the band which is a super bonus.
-All that aside, they are just plain FUN!

btw I have just decided to sell my pcar, but don't ask me for my mufflers

-I am going to have them put on my next pcar if I end up with a 997. I already checked with Afterhours and they will just need to modify the muffler exit pipe for fit 997 tip location.
