I just swapped the same unit in my 2001 996tt in place of the factory black & white unit and it works fine. Unit did not have to be reprogrammed. The mileage is now less but the unit works just like the old one.

My silver face unit has approx 17,450 miles on it ... my actual mileage is approximately 26,400. I'm interested in a three way sale swap for your higher mileage unit so that it gets me closer to the true mileage of my car if someone is interested in doing it.
