FS or Trade: OEM 996 GT2 Wheels and Tires

Category: Wheels & Tires
Price: $2300
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits: Porsche 911 996 Turbo
Location (State): AZ
Item Condition: Used
Shipping Information: Item can be shipped

I have a set of very nice OEM GT2 wheels and tires that after much deliberation I've decided to unload. Wheels are in fantastic shape with virtually no blemishes (just a few tiny surface imperfections that could easily be buffed out, and one tiny, shallow curb nic, see picture below). From what I can tell these wheels have never been refinished, and have no touch up paint on them at all. They are currently mounted on my car and are balanced, with no wobbles, shimmies, or vibrations at all.

The tires are Michelin Pilot Sports, N-rated (N-0). The only real problem with the tires is that they are old (DOT manufacture date of 2002). However, according to the prior owner (actually, the prior owner's personal assistant who listed them on craigslist for his car-collector boss), the tires and wheels were removed very early in the car's lifetime (no, he did not even know what kind of Porsche they were from) and then stored in a climate controlled airplane hanger (the same hanger which housed his boss' extensive exotic car collection). Accordingly, I can see absolutely no cracking, dry-rotting, or crazing, and the rubber seems to be in perfect shape. The tread for the fronts appear to be almost new (with perfectly even wear), while the tread for the rears appear to be at around 50% (see pics). The rear wear is also very even, with only slightly more wear on the inside edge. There is a small chunk of rubber missing from the protective ridge that sticks out over the edge of the wheel, right over the small curb-rash area (see pics). From what I can tell there are no plugs (I haven't had the tires off the wheels, so I can't tell for sure).

With the 12-inch rears and 8.5 inch fronts, these would make great track wheels or street wheels for a modified 996tt in need of a bit more grip. Inasmuch as only around 315 GT2's were sold in the U.S., take off gt2 wheels are rare, and I'm told a new set is incredibly expensive (over 6.5k).

I am asking 2,300 for the wheels and tires. As far as trades, I'd potentially be interested in the following: (1) OEM HOLLOW spoke turbo twists (cosmetic condition not too important as I would powder coat black), plus 1,200 cash; (2) 18" techart or ruf wheels; (3) replica gt2 front bumper, plus cash (negotiable, depending on brand, color, condition, etc...); or (4) oem gt2 front bumper. If you have other interesting trade ideas for 996tt parts, just let me know what you have in mind.

Buyer to pay actual shipping charges. This is a no risk deal. If you buy them, and they turn out to be not as represented (or you just change your mind), I'll be happy to take them back as long as you pay all shipping charges and they are in the same condition in which they arrived. I want whoever ends up with them to be happy with the purchase.

Feel free to ask any questions (I can send more pics via email, upon request).

Thanks, Scott.

...and more pics. These pics show the tread wear on one of the rear tires and one of the fronts (both of fronts and both of the rears are in bascially exactly the same condition). The final picture shows the small curb rash area.

These are collector wheels that really don't come up for sale often.

With the tires included this is a smoking deal for anyone with GT2 replica ambitions, they fill the fenders really nice! (see my avatar)

Thanks Mr. White. I really debated keeping them, and may yet keep them if they don't garner enough interest. Its a perfect situation really...worse case scenario is that I'm running a sweet set of gt2 wheels (which I will powdercoat black if I keep).
