9ff Dual Mode exhaust for 996 Turbo
Category: Engine - Exhaust
Price: $4000
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits: Porsche 911 996 Turbo
Location (State): IL
Item Condition: Used
A couple questions;
1. You said you replaced the valves ? - please explain and remember I am no
Porsche mechanic, so the more detail the better.
2. Is your exhaust titanium ? I ask, as the guy in Florida said the new 9ff exhaust
system is all titanium.
3. How would I install or have installed the switch that makes the exhaust loud &
quiet ?
I ask, as the guy in Florida said what makes it loud & quiet is a switch that iyou flip for quiet which makes it as quiet as the factory Porsche exhaust system, in that the exhaust only comes out one tail pipe on each side ? Then he said when you flip the switch the exhaust comes out 4 pipes ? which then makes it sound loud and gives your car & engine the added hp as the exhaust gets out faster through 4 pipes, not 2.
Again, please feel free to elaborate and give added details.
Thanks and PLS advise - JIM in Texas
1) One valve had stopped functioning so I replaced it with a factory 9ff valve
2) It's polished stainless, not titanium. What does the new version cost?
3) You heard right. If you look at the photos then you'll notice the kit includes everything (modified batwing plate with switch (goes right above shifter), vacuum assembly, wiring, fused relay, etc, to provide vacuum so the valves.
Like I said it's a fully adjustable system that's plug and play.

Al,
How did you know that one of the valves had stopped functioning ?
Did you replace both valves ?
How much did you pay for the new Pierburg valves ?
Who installed the new valves ?
How difficult is the installation of the kit you mentioned ? I ask, as it sounds like it would be a lot of work to install the switch you mentioned that goes right above shifter, the vacuum assembly, the wiring, the fused relay, etc.
Thanks and please advise - JIM

Hi Jim,
How did you know that one of the valves had stopped functioning ? One was physically damaged when I purchased it.
Did you replace both valves ? I wound up replacing only the broken valve and I have a spare even though these should really fail.
How much did you pay for the new Pierburg valves ? They run about $250 each.
Who installed the new valves ? A local welder.

The switch panel is a cinch. You run power to it and then a power under the carpet to the rear section and then mount the vacuum assembly on the underside at a location of your choice.
May I ask one thing? Let's convers via email from now on at newnode@mac.com
I don't mean to offend but I don't want to muddle this thread up and make it confusing for others who are interested to see that this puppy is still available.
Bump! Still for sale
