Any of you looking for an intake hose like this that missed the sale, you can get the same one in blue or black for $20 plus $5 shipping here: http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...62405faa5d2322
For the "cap" over the resonator hole, any rubber 2" pipe cap from Home Depot will do.
These "performance intake" hoses are nothing more than a 45-degree 3" to 3.5" reducing silicone elbow. You will get a lot more out of this mod if you also use a high flow KN or BMC filter instead of the OEM paper filter.

+1 on the Justahonda's DIY tip. Be aware that many 45-degree 3" to 3.5" reducing elbows are too short to reach from the airbox outlet to the throttle body. The one in the Justahonda's link might fit. Check the measurements before ordering.
)- The elbow listed in my previous post has sufficient leg length to reach properly. A lot of the listed elbows on ebay are "shortys" with 1" of leg (straight section) on each side of bend, that is too short. The correct ones have about 3" of leg on each end. You'll need to add a KN or BMC filter to get the most out of this mod.
Having done both on my 996 and 997, I would say the better bang for buck is a complete K&N filter kit with cone (K&N 57-7000 FIPK). The 996 kits also fit 997.1. The K&N sounds much meaner and does make a minor improvement on response. It is a PITA to assemble but not hard to install. Typically $245 or so online, half that for a used one.
The tube + OEM filter makes almost no audible difference
The tube + K&N or BMC filter makes a bit more audible diff
The tube makes no noticeable performance diff
