If you have a standard (plastic) air bag, you can send it for cover in leather. That would be an option if you cannot find a leather air bag.

I've thought about that, but how would it effect the operation of the airbag wrapping it with leather?

Ask them. I think they design the cover the same way as factory leather air bag, so no issues with operation.
