If you had been an innocent bystander in your Porsche when the cops came, they would have taken your car too. They were only able to identify the participants because of the high-end nature of the cars in the same place at the same time. Good luck trying to talk your way out of that one. Kids

scary thing is this wasn't witnessed by the police only other drivers, to seize vehicles based on that is crazy. Legally civilians cannot be estimators of speed in court, police already said no evidence or anything on street cameras...sounds like a typical witch hunt/media hype. Likely all the charges will be dismissed in court, big waste of resources.

Huge waste of resources.......

Cops were probably all high on power too... "We got these cars!!"

but reality hit them... no proof of reckless driving, speeding, and the family lawyers probably started calling.

I am in Vancouver, and it is scary with the new rules and regs that were just put into place. The police now have full power to impound your car now with no real evidence. It sure has put a damper on our early morning porsche meets for "spirited" driving.
On side note, Vancouver is one changed place in the last 10 years. I have been in Vancouver all my life, and now I feel like I am the minority.

I hope they do fight it in court (since they probably have the resources) to get some focus on the legality of the new seizure rules. The cops can take your car any time they want to now - due process be damned. How the h*** did we get here?

`This Canadian multi-car-speed incident has interesting statistics/conclusions, some already addressed above.
(1) All drivers were young adults under 21and obvious bad-boy racers jumping up momentarily from their hondas, mustangs, etc street racers to these GT and sports racing cars.

2)One driver only registered owner....must be Dad's(or Mom's) car/relatives's car/ rental car/dealers car because in each case not one could have afforded these vehicles to include even the cheaper GTRs.

(3) All cars most likely manumatic or automatic....straight forward racing machines even a 8-10 year old hot-shot driver could drive.

(4) How in the world could observers tell these speeds of 125 miles/hr unless they too were speeding a lot over speed limit.

(5)Thank goodness porsche owners aren't fools enough to let such bad-boy raciners use their cars or maybe a PDK wasn't a choice.

I'm in Alberta, you poor people in the peoples republic of British Columbia and you're communist system of laws. I wonder when the police will just start executing people on the side of the road...I'll keep my holiday money in Alberta or I'll go to the states.

I grew up without crap but went to Tufts in Boston where I saw multiple brand new Ferraris and Lambos owned all by young Asian kids. I'm certainly not racist since many of my best friends are minorities, but generalization doesn't make you racist, just realistic.

Funny there wasn't a Porsche in the bunch.

Sorry, but this new Asian wave that has come to Vancouver have more money than You can imagine! They have come into Canada under the investor status whereby you have to have the doe. And most of these kids have vacant parents that aren't around as the father spends most of their timr in Asia, or just the mom who has no control of the boys in their culture.

It was changing for me in the 70's mostly Asian which is fine with me, but they did not really wish to acclimate they just bought all the property and raised all the rents. At that time most of family's and friends where moving away to the out skirts or Sydney etc because they could see the direction it was taking. Kitts beach I would not even recognize now.

Well said!! In fact last month I drove up to Whistler from LA.. Thus is very familiar with the sections of the road they are referring too. Those sections are wide open... going 125 is not a problem there unless you have lots of traffic.
As was mentioned above, parents are 1) in Asia 2) kids have graduated to these higher end cars and was just out 'blowing' out some built up carbon. I'm sure majority if us can relate to that- right? So this applies to a lot of folks here.
My take is - if one mentions 'just' Asian Kids.. they need to get educated on Global Economics as this should enlighten them on the next power house for the 22nd century.

Regarding homes- yes these parents will pay cash in the millions for their kids to live in while 'attending UBC and Simon Frasher....
