this is all good and the direction that this is going is pretty obvious...so let's get a bit more specific shall we?...photos will need to have specific requirements besides including the user name and date...the photos should display the item in a manner (adequate lighting and focus) that will permit the buyer to make an intelligent decision not in a way that hides any flaws...I'm not sure that cell pics will meet that standard except on some of the newer phones...if there is any damage to the item, no matter how slight, it must be shown...we have had so many disputes when items arrive damaged...and then it is too late to prove that the item was fine when it was shipped...we all have horror stories about FedEx and UPS simply destroying packages and their contents and there have been issues where sellers did not package items correctly and they subsequently arrived in a damaged condition...any more ideas for photo requirements?

This is a great idea, but you will need to be sure to set the guidelines very specifically. For example, do the pictures need to be a certain resolution? Do they need to show every surface of the item? If a car is for sale, will it require pictures of the undercarriage as well to assure no damage?

I'm all for mandatory multiple pictures and the photo must include a piece of paper with user name and date.

Oh and the one person who voted "NO" is obviously a scammer who is pissed off about these rules.

+1 pix w/ a piece of paper including username and date...

I've bought and sold in the classifieds and gotten lucky but always went w/ (or posted) pix of the item.

Thanks for taking up this initiative

Pictures Yes!!!, although it's still always buyer beware. I've been very lucky buying from this forum and other places. I prefer to have a phone conversation with the seller to make sure what's offered is what i'm buying.

A piece of paper with user name in the photo is a plus vote for me.
I would just add that post counts DO matter. I have personally banned known scammers from coming back. When I see that in a 5 minute time period, 30 posts are made, I can check their account, try and match IP addresses, email addresses, and try and prevent repeat offenders from coming back. I consider post count at 30 mandatory - and would actually consider raising it.

It used to be 100, but we tried to make the forum open to more people.

Raising the post count back up to 100 doesn't sound bad either.

very true, we tried to make it more open for our good members and we made it more open for scammers...before we lowered the post count requirement to 30 there was moderator approval available and at least the moderator could assess the member to see if they were "sponge worthy"...I don't know if the increase in scams is due to the economy in general or our change in policy...as many have said a scammer will find a way around any rules you put in place...I am certainly in favor of a photo/date/username policy

Totally agree that a picture with a time stamp and username be mandatory. I think this is a great step forward in preventing fraud... as far as anything more like checking undercarriage that would be more so regarding condition of product. That would be another poll all together.

Please implement right away!

Great idea! I like the picture idea with user name and date next to it. I'm sure the scammers could find ways to get around this too but it definitely will deter them.

In the end the buyer needs to look out for themselves still and I always do a little research before I buy from somebody.

I think a picture with the seller, full face and profile..AND holding a current copy of the local paper is essential.

(Look, fraud will happen, pictures will not fix this- know who you are dealing with or fund sales with a credit card. 6speed will not host photos, so it is a pita to put up photos here. No, we all do not maintain public online photo accounts...)
