Lets try this again, mandatory photograph for items for sale?
Lets try this again, mandatory photograph for items for sale?
A large number of scams and fraudulent sales in the last 12 months have occurred on this forum, primarily form this subsection, from those members who have items for sale, demand payment first, and disappear after receiving the money.
In response to this, several members have been banned, and IPs blocked. But this will continue to be an problem.
To those who frequent this forum, please consider the following:
Should it be a requirement that items for sale in this forum require a photograph (not a stock photo, or googled picture, or link from a vendor) to document that an item exists?
If >50% of members indicate YES, I will implement a forum policy change to reflect this (and hopefully prevent future theft.)
Thank you.

How will the verification be made? Are you going to have them post pictures with a sheet of paper stating their Username and the date? That would be nice, even if it is inconvenient. I bought a set of wheels off of here and was VERY pleased, but I got lucky too. That is just my $0.02, as I help run another forum and we require real pics as well.
I agree. In this day and age every cell phone, laptop, or tablet can take a digital picture, so I think it should be mandatory.
That way users can feel more comfortable with what they're considering buying.

If everyone is leaning toward mandatory photos, is a recent photo with a date stamp necessary, or a non stock photo enough?
The vote will go on for about 9 more days, and then if you all could help me decide on the details.

I agree as well (mandatory actual photos). Although "buyer's" should be responsible for their own due diligence as well. Everything I have tried to sell on 6speed, I have posted several high quality images and all of my potential buyer's have asked for even more images to be PM'd as well as asking for certain angles or particular close-up and/or detailed images specified by them. Sometimes I feel like I spend more time shooting my products and project managing requests then actual cost of the goods I'm trying to sell are worth.

Yet some want 10,000 words.
