Saw a big single FD run a 996tt [VID]

My friends big single BW S366 FD vs another friends tune/exhaust k16 996tt (m3ntal)

Turned out to be nice roll, K16s have no top end so the end result is predictable I guess. Put up a damn good run though...40-130mph

I don't see too many FDs on the road anymore...nice to see that some fast ones are still out there!

The FD has a big weight advantage over the 996TT however traction is an issue on big HP cars. My 1993 R1 FD has a curb weight around 2790 lbs. It's still one of the sexiest body designs out there and is bound to be a classic one day. They are getting harder find for sure.

This is an R1 as well. He normally runs it on 16" DRs and it hooks. Now it was on 18" street tires an spins a lot

I figured it might be an R1 (no sunroof). Looks like he has the 99 spec bumper too. Is it a factory piece? The reason I ask is the fitment appears to be a little off. My stock front bumper has a little heat warping that is common on these cars and I was considering a 99 spec.

You guys are lucky....

Up in canada they let you import Japan's garbage. So the only FD's you see around here are 16 year old kids driving right hand drive rust buckets with mis-matched wheels and faded paint.

Ruined so many good cars for me.... Supra, Mr2, skyline, Rx-7, 300zx.......

I used to close my eyes and imagine imaculate conditioned sports cars. Now I see garbage....

Isn't that the truth. My car is LHD. I wish they didn't allow those RHD pieces of garbage here.

Love the FD. I've owned every version of the Rx7. Original, FCs (4), FD. But swore off blown rotarys in 2002 after blowing the 4th motor in 3 cars.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a reliable forced induction rotary engine. Sure the diehards will tell you that THIS last build is the one... until it blows an apex seal and chews the entire engine to $hit. Switched to the M3 and graduated to Porsches.... cheaper in the long run.

Sorry to be negative Prodigy. It's a beautiful car.

yeah agreed - he's always having some small issue. i think the only way i would own one is with an LS2/3 in it. then you get the best of both worlds. reliability, power, classic looks of the FD
