TPC Supercharger, New, Never Installed Fits 997 ('05-'08)

Category: Engine - Power Adders

Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits: Porsche 911 997 Non-Turbo

Item Condition: Brand New
Shipping Information: Item can be shipped

TPC Supercharger
Condition: New, opened, but never used.
Price: $6,500
Shipping: $75

I'm selling my new, never installed TPC Supercharger. It fits a 05-08 997, 3.6 or 3.8 and boosts HP to 503 H.P. and 415lbs./ft. torque. As it has never been installed, it still includes the TPC ECU flash.

I tried to have the unit installed on my Targa, but due to the structural difference of the Targa's interior engine bay, it did not fit. The supercharger fits the 997.1 Coupe and Cabriolet. I also had the inlet pipe modified for clearance in the engine bay. Normally, the top of the engine compartment needs to be "contoured" for the unit to fit and the modification eliminated that requirement.

Priced to sell, my loss is your gain. I priced it so with installation, it will cost less than a lesser centrifugal supercharger unit. This is a top of the line positive displacement Roots style as opposed to centrifugal style supercharger that retails for $11,900: TPC Supercharger

I have it listed on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/TPC-Supercharger-New-Never-Installed-Fits-997-05-08-/110887789892?hash=item19d16d6544&item=110887789892 &pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_ 864wt_922

This unit has an Eaton Supercharger blower, this is from Turbo Magazine on the Positive Displacement Superharger:

Positive Displacement Superchargers
Positive displacement superchargers begin by taking a fixed volume of air in a chamber and moving it into a second chamber at a rate higher than the second area can be emptied. This backup of air results in pressurization of the air inside the second chamber thus increasing its density. The amount the air moves depends on the volume of the first chamber and how quickly and how many times the chamber's filled and its contents transferred. The difference between the volume of air pumped by the supercharger and the volume of air consumed by the engine is how positive displacement superchargers achieve positive manifold pressure. Such superchargers are often called "blowers" in hot-rodder lingo.

The advantage of positive displacement type blowers are their immediate and proportional boost response in relation to the throttle; such blowers consistently pump a given, constant volume of air despite engine speeds. Of course, there are slight variations in boost pressure as a blower's and an engine's volumetric efficiency improves and declines alongside engine speed throughout the powerband but, for the most part, boost pressure remains fairly constant. This makes a positive displacement blown motor feel like you're packing a much bigger engine than you are.

Because of these characteristics, a positive displacement supercharger is the king of driveability and low-rpm power-the perfect characteristics for a daily driver or for those who value low-end grunt. Such grunt is welcomed in high-revving, small-displacement engines. The constant delivery of boost pressure makes for an engine with smooth, linear power delivery characteristics making the positive displacement blower ideal for the driver who values a 1:1 relationship between the gas pedal and the amount of power produced. Autocrossers who need smooth predictable power from very low speeds to help throttle steer through tight cones or a person who just wants a tractable, predictable street-driven car with plenty of right-now, no-waiting punch to quickly end stoplight encounters will appreciate it too.

Here are some photos (the wrapping is no longer on the parts and there are a couple pics of the inlet modification):

The A/C line in the box is not part of the kit. The kit includes instructions on using your existing A/C line. I will post more pics tonight.

$6,500 is a terrific value for this new kit. There is a supercharged '98 911 on eBay currently at $35,100., compared to $23,337 for a stock '98 911S coupe with 71,409 miles, using Edmunds TMV retail. (search for Item number: 290718324361)

Based on the Edmunds numbers, the supercharged car is worth around $12,000 more than a stock, 911 meaning the forced induction modification to a Roots positive displacement supercharger, is not only amazingly fun to drive, but buyers will likely pay a premium for your car when you eventually sell it with the supercharger. if you spend $1,500 installing this kit on your car, with a $6,500 price, you will have $8,000 into the kit. Based on where that 911 is currently priced and the Edmunds TMV numbers, down the road you have a pretty high likelihood of being able to realize around a $12,000 premium over a stock 911. That represents years of superior performance plus 150% premium on the cost plus installation of this kit. That represents a terrific value.

Here is the 993 auction I am mentioning:

I have a call into TPC. Josh wasn't sure if any of the parts are different between the 996 and 997 and is running it by Tom.

I just looked, it looks like someone is going to get my unused kit for 33 cents on the retail dollar!

@White Rock I would be more than happy to let you check out the final product.

As far as Cars & Coffee goes, I used to go but I am currently boycotting the event until they get things straightened out, too unorganized and too many stock muscle cars.

I do go to Cars & Bikes at RAC.

I will start a new thread regarding the install and final product on 6speed and on dfwautoclub.com

I completely agree with the lack organization at C&C. I go oftern, but never take my 4s up there anymore. Look foward to the build thread!
