pothole distroys factory 20" tire

with only about 950 kms (approx 600 miles) on the car the factory tire got a bulge in the sidewall. I actually didn't notice the bulge I just noticed that the car was pulling to the right. Took it into the bentley dealership and they fixed the alignment under warranty (tech said alignment wasn't really that bad, expected worse with a bulge in the tire like that) I asked him if it was common he said he has seen it many times

$974.66 to fix.

anyone find this insane? Constantly getting new tires because of potholes? When Gil said he can't go with 22's because they won't last I almost didn't take him seriously. I don't think I want 22's after this experience. I was looking towards ordering hre 948r wheels for my car but I don't want it in the shop that often with bent rims etc. Are the factory tires on the bentley crap? Or did I just get unlucky with less then 1k on the car I thought vancouver roads were better then most places the service advisor told me the car is heavy and if your going with decent speed and you hit a pot hole it will happen.

I think 20" rims are insane.

I have 19's on my 360 and they are a problem. Each wheel has been repaired at least once, and one is slightly out of round.

So now I am replacing all my rims.

If it were not for the better handling and better look of the 19's I go back to 18's!

$950 for "a" tire? whoa. Maybe $950 to fix a wheel too? I guess if you can afford the, you can afford the tires.

Vancouver roads are not that bad. I have my 5000lbs+ R500 running with 22" for about 4 months now, They're perfectly fine. I guess you have to respect and be carefully with all the big wheels and tires. 22" on GTC will be just fine.

Vicktor,

Your yiddish is pretty good. Keep it up.

I am sure the extra $ was to clean the wheel and tire after it was mounted!!!

Had the same problem with my spur at 800 miles. Very important to watch the tires...if they are low they will blow the sidewalls very easily!!!
