Radar Detector?

Well I just bought a Continental GT Speed...

I would like to add some kind of radar detector...what do you guys recommend?

I have the K40 in my Porsche and love it but not sure I want to drill holes in the dash on this bad boy...

Thanks!

I was very surprised at just how fast the car is...I will no doubt get the GIAC flash and throw another 100HP into the mix...that should make things very interesting!

I figure I will get about 3 miles to the gallon at that point!!!

I really like the V1. I recently wrote a review on it: http://gearpatrol.com/blog/2009/08/2...adar-detector/

lol it will really get crazy. there is already so much weight and power on the car. i have already experienced over steer a few times on some sharp downhill turns lol.

your car will go from 600hp to about 700hp vs the gt with 552hp lol. nuts.

Thanks Zane...I don't deny that people love the V1...but I can't bring myself to hang the damn thing on my windshield...that's why I prefer a K40.

But I have heard of people that integrated it somehow into their rear view mirror but have no idea where to start with that one...

I talked to GIAC the other day. If I'm not mistaken, the flash ups the Speed by about 50 hp and the non Speed about 100 hp without race gas.

From the GIAC web site for the Speed:
"GIAC performance software for the 2008 Continental Speed GT ® smoothly delivers a 50-130HP and 65-80 FT/LBS gain." The 50/65 is for 91 octane with it being slightly higher with 93. The 130/65 is with 103+ octane.

From the GIAC web site for the non Speed:
"Currently the GIAC performance program for the Continental GT ® produces 100-114 hp and 120-130 ft-lbs of torque 91-93 octane dependent."

Maybe Bentley already incorporates some of what GIAC does in the Speed. Hopefully Mike from AWE or somebody from GIAC can clarify. I am going to call Mike to clarify the beginning of the week. One problem with the Bentley for me is that with my Porsche, I just had the ECU removed, shipped to AWE for the flash and then shipped back and reinstalled. GIAC told me with the Bentley it is not removable so the car has to go to AWE. About 5 hours one way for me.

Got the ok from wife to do the flash as long as it can be reversed with the flashloader. She does not want me to touch the exhaust though. (As she keeps reminding me- you do what you want with YOUR Porsche - this is MY Bentley) With the Porsche it is almost necessary to do exhaust if doing the ecu - not sure about the Bentley.

oops - sorry. This started as a radar detector thread.

Did you go to the GIAC website to see if there is an authorized installer closer to you than AWE?

All I know is that GIAC transformed my Porsche...I'm sure it will do the same for the GT...

Post some pics of the install and let us know how you liked the unit. I've been hanging a Passport on my dash and have been considering an integrated unit.

The install looks terrific. Unfortunately there's a little box sticking out in front of the lower grill but if you don't look for it you don't notice it.

The box itself is WAY smaller than the unit on my Porsche...they must have improved it over the past 2.5 years.

The blue lights were installed in the middle of the top of the tunnel of the center unit of the guage cluster (the one with all the info you can scroll through...speed, gps, sat radio, etc....not sure what to call it but you know what I mean)

It looks great!!!

I know this is totally useless without pics...I'll post up some time this weekend!

So far it already saved me once and I've only driven 100 miles so far!!

Also waiting for pics of the car. Now that you have it, is it everything you thought it would be? We love ours. When are you going to do the GIAC. Can't wait for your feedback on it. One of these days I am going to make the trip to AWE to have ours done. Drive it in good health.
