Installing DICE

Anyone care to share details on popping off the front facia around the radio (if necessary) and the two 'keys' i need to remove the radio/computer in-dash head unit. Also, have not looked but i assume removing the 6-disc changer in the glove box is easy enough. In my past life i installed IASCA-quality car audio systems, yet any tips/tricks are ALWAYS welcome. When i do my install would be happy to post picks and details so others can follow for future use/need.

Marc-P is infamous around these parts
My dice was installed by disconnecting the CD changer and using it's input with the dice unit.

So you did not need to remove the head unit to access the rear connectors if i am reading what you are saying correctly. Assume all functions that should work with the DICE were functional in your configuration that did not require accessing the head unit's MOLEX plug (see attached page from the installation manual that shows a 'pass through of sorts). Without having the DICE here (yet) it is hard for me to study what is going with wiring-wise. MANY thanks as ALL help is ALWAYS appreciated.

Correct, we did not have to remove the head unit nor was any trim near the head unit removed. Disassembled the glove box, remove the cd changer and nav disk reader. The plug that connected to the cd changer was disconnected, hook up the dice harness to that plug. I use a ZUNE HD not an IPOD so I didn't test all the IPOD controls but of course the IPOD worked on it (installer just briefly tested his own). Please be aware your dice unit might not have the correct harness, I had to order 2 other harness directly from dice to test them.

Ahhh thanks. i recall reading your post about the troubles you had with the harness situation. Now the golden question, do you remember which harness was the 'right' one (part#) as would rather just get them now so when doing this project all the correct parts are on hand. Thanks.

The part number I ended up with was harness "VW-T" but please make sure your connections look like this picture's:

Take notice of the left-most cable as that is what my connector looks like. The other cable was me showing DICE the incorrect AUDI one.

That is what i ordered (VW-T kit) and it said compatible for Bentley of my year. Will print out your photo for comparison when the kit arrives. This really is the best Bentley board on the web! Will take pics during install so others can follow along for future use.
