Computer Glitches Gremlins
Computer Glitches Gremlins
I'm looking for experience from other owners of the GT, or service knowledgable people.
I have a Continental GT '05
Took a 7hr trip recently. Along the way I had several strange occurrences. First the computer in between the gauges showed coolant temp warning. However my temp gauge showed just below 200 as usual. While I was pulling off the highway the error went away and never appeared again. An hour later I received the (P) with a slash through it warning. The manual says this indicates a parking break failure. However I pulled over and tester it just fine. After cycling the parking break the error disappeared.
The above seem to be strange computer glitches. One last item. If I turn off the car with the windows down, then turn on the car to roll them up... If I leave the drivers door open while doing this, the back left window will roll down 90% after I have rolled it up, turned the car off, and exit the car and shut the door. After I get out and shut the door, the left rear rolls down. Weird. The only way to fix is to get in and turn the car on and SHUT the driver door before I roll it back up, then I can turn off the car and exit and it stays up. Really odd.
Gas anyone had similar? Can I get the computer "reset"?

Stoppiesteve,
Only weird thing i can 'solve' is the Parking Brake, as it seems a sensor within the caliper or ??? is failing on many '05/'06 cars. Yes the parking brake works fine, it is just a senor that is not detecting the operation being normal. That is a known issue.
As for your window situation, it is probably the NORMAL thing where the rear window wants to be 'ajar/slightly open' before the door is closed. Why? When you close a door there is air pressure that naturally builds up from that action. As such, having the rear window ajar allows said air pressure a place to release. So what COULD be happening is the computer just having a bad hair moment/day between what YOU want and what it NORMALLY does before the door closes. i bet your situation is repeatable because of the computer having a debate with itself.
To close and open the windows, you can be outside the car with all windows closed, then insert the key and turn it either clockwise or counter-clockwise (i forget which) and that will open them. Do the same thing to close the windows when you are outside the car with the key in the door lock. Having the door open probably just hiccupped the system.

This is driving me crazy. Any help is appreciated.
Same thing happened on the 2006 CGT that is here. Odds are it is the passenger side (USA spec car) rear right emergency brake sensor. Have the dealer call the factory, it is a known issue.
